Color matching help? 4 Years ago
I've been trying to paint some of my props to match the Fantasy pieces and can't come up with a mixture that is a close match. What you see below are my attempts. Some look decent, others aren't very close. Most of the props below were painted with a mix of these Games Workshop colors, painted in this order:

1) Base coat mix:
- 1 part of "Chaos Black"
- 1 part of "Skull White" to get a dark grey color
- Add a touch of "Graveyard Earth" to the dark grey color

2) Dry brush with mix:
- 1 parts of "Sunburst Yellow"
- 2 parts of "Graveyard Earth"
- Sometimes a touch of codex gray is needed to lighten up the yellow color

The prop on the bottom right (with the marble in it) is the closest I've come and I think that's because it has a lot of texture and the dry brush took to it well. The big head prop in the top left is okay, and the fire pit in the bottom left is barely similar to the color of DF pieces. The little props in the middle top are pretty close but could be better. i'm not good at guessing what I need to do to mix the colors to better match the Fantasy pieces, any help is appreciated.

I remember someone (maybe even Stefan?) posting a mix of colors that would very closely match the Fantasy MasterMaze pieces. I'm sure someone will post it again or we van raise that thread form the dead ;-)

Here is Stefan's tutorial. In my experience, the texture of the piece greatly affects how closely it matches the original Dwarven Forge pieces. If the texture isn't the same scale, the dry-brushed colors are either too much or too little.

Thanks. I should have mentioned this in my original post. The colors I used for the paint jobs shown are what was suggested by Stefan in that thread. As you can see, the prop with the marble looks great but other props without the same surface area don't match the DF fantasy color scheme that well.
