Hi there,

I am in the process of putting back my collection of dwarven forge sets and before buying original version over the internet like ebay and such, i wanted to know if Dwarven Forge had any intentions of re issueing those sets. i'm talking about the MM-001 to MM-007 sets.

If that were the case, i would wait on the reissues instead of buying used on the internet. I saw in the news section that some are bringing brought back in stock in march. Any chance that original sets are in the lot? Is there a list of the sets that are going to be brought back somewhere on the site?

Thanks for any response and sorry about my bad english.

As a recent DF addict myself, I have been trying to piece together what sets have come before and which are out of production (OOP). Here are my best guesses about re-stocks. I do hope the new website can give a better picture of what is in stock, what is "evergreen" (but may be out of stock at the moment), and what is coming.

SKU SET
MM-001 Room Set (Due back in stock March 2010)
MM-002 Room & Passage Set (I am hoping this will be re-stocked in the March 2010 batch, too; I can't see this set going OOP)
MM-003 Octagonal Room Set (I don't think this will be back anytime soon.)
MM-004 25 Diagonal Walls Set (I hope this gets re-stocked at some point, but I have my doubts...)
MM-005 30 Short Passages Set (I hope this gets re-stocked at some point, but I have my doubts...)
MM-006 Wicked Additions Set (Currently in stock)
MM-007 The Ogre's Den (I don't think this was well-received, so again, it may not be re-stocked. It was not as flexible as the standard DF pieces.)

I also wonder about the following sets:

MM-008 Curved Walls and Passages Set (I hope this one comes back.)
MM-009 Deluxe Room Set (I don't think this one is coming back.)
MM-010 15 Short Passages Set (I hope this one comes back.)
MM-018 Traps Set (I don't think this one is coming back. I hope the ramp makes it into another set or can be sold as an individual piece. I would really like 3 or 4 ramps.)
MM-019 Traps Set 2 (I don't think this one is coming back.)
MM-022 Fantasy Starter Set (I don't think this one is coming back.)

EDIT: Corrected MM-010 from "Straight Passage Set" to "15 Short Passages Set"

D'oh! Sorry, wasn't marked as such...

I'd like to see the Octagonal Room / Diagonal Walls return [ www.dwarvenforge.com/dwarvenforums/viewtopic.php?id=3468 ],
perhaps combined with Curved Walls & Passages [ www.dwarvenforge.com/dwarvenforums/viewtopic.php?id=3573 ].

I'd also like to see a new Traps set, mixing the best of the old traps with some new traps/obstacles.

One of the downsides of DF coming out with lots of cool sets over the last few years is the fact that it makes it harder for us to keep all the sets in stock. We HOPE to revisit some of the older sets, and maybe update them a bit and re-release them. In addition, the factory has recently raised their "minimum order quantity" so it is doubly difficult to restocks older sets. I would really like to see a new Short Passage Set that incorporated a few new pieces.

Things are in a bit of a state of flux right now as we are determining how to proceed with various initiatives for the upcoming year. Once a plan has been put in place about where our resources are going to be allocated, I will let you all know our plans.

Well, you give us old timers a bit of a break on the wallet and give the newer folks a chance to get older stuff by putting out some older good sellers, I won't mind if you don't make 4 new sets a year (unless one planed was Sci-Fi.. ;) ) I can't afford all the new sets a year right now....

I agree.

<<Commence Ramble>>

While it's exciting to get new sets, I think developing so many, so frequently to the detriment of keeping the basic line stocked is counter-productive. Those basic, iconic MasterMaze Dungeon sets are what got so many into collecting Dwarven Forge in the first place. Not having them available to new collectors, IMO, hurts the future exposure of this fantastic product.

Having "Specialty Locations" is great and certainly ups the versatility and experience of our DF collections. BUT, look at things from the new collector's (or one-off buyer's) perspective. What will give them more use? More "bang for their buck"? What is the most common environment for Dungeon Delve gaming ? TA DAA .... the Dungeon !! NOT the Realm of the Ancients, not the Den of Evil, not Volcanic Caverns. Good, old-fashioned simple Dungeons. **

(** OK, I'll give you the MBS is an ideal starting point because almost all great adventures do begin in a tavern :) )

Anyway, in an economy that forces people to go "back to basics" and limit their spending, I think that DF can and should do the same. Ensure that the basics are available to shore up the foundation of future collectors once the economy improves.

Now, that's not to say I'm not looking forward to new sets. I just know I can't and won't buy new sets with the frequency I once did (especially 3 at a pop to get the pre-order incentives). So, for me, devoting some resources to restocking the basics isn't a bad idea. Especially if some of the new sets are smaller accessory sets to the basic Dungeon line (can we say Dungeon Doors ??)

Ok, ramble over. Just my two cents ....

Anyway, I'm really anxious to hear what DF ahs planned for the year. They've been quiet lately ...
Too quiet ...
