Will there be any more expansions to the MBS series? 5 Years, 5 Months ago
Question:

Will there be any more expansions made to the MBS series. It appears as though three is the present standard number of sets within the newer lines.

I ask as I haven't yet seen the window boxes reappear in any of the sets as standard pieces. I know that they were not going to be made available as separate pieces after their initial offering, although I would expect that they would be included as standard pieces in some future MBS set.

Any possibilities?

I am bugging Stefan about doing a fourth set. Keep your fingers crossed. I think the window boxes were a one-time limited-edition thing. Sorry.

Great news about a possible fourth set.

As for the window boxes, at least by knowing I can now seriously consider developing some custom options instead.

Thanks Jeff, for the update.

Hey wereweasel,

If you come up with a way to make opening window shades, let me know. I've been working with this myself but have not made the perfect scratch built "shudder", but really need something like this for my MBS set. I had hoped, like yourself, to see these available in the future.

To tell you the truth, while I'm sure Stefan would do something that would blow us all away, I don't know that I consider the MBS radically "incomplete" in any significant way. I mean, we've got enough basic elements to do some cool setups. I'd love to see free-standing accessories, like the tavern stuff, that works with the set but could also go in other settings -- that would be a good way to increase what could be done with the MBS. But I don't know that I can think up any particular "architectural" elements that really feel missing and/or needed for the setting....

But, of course, if a fourth set WERE planned, I'm sure it would be amazing and probably be my favorite for the whole line....

I could see:
1. 6" room walls
2. wood corridors (passage set)
3. narrow passage for secret rooms in buildings
4. traps
5. Roofs

and something I wouldn't care much for but:
6. curved corner walls
7. damaged walls (such as in a run down building or shack)

ALthough I have some of this from other lines there is always:
Tavern-like sets such as a library, blacksmith, general store, butcher, armory, weapon shop, etc

Damaged Walls would be a great way to create a new sub environment for DF, the destroyed/damaged village.

Imagine, you have the tavern set up. Some fun plot goes on in there, maybe a pickpocket thing or a brawl... and then a "real" adventure somewhere else is found out about, so the party leaves for 2 months....

But when the come back they find there fave tavern/ town destroyed... with marauding bandits and civilians trying to survive.... and you have the tavern set up exactly as before, except with the damaged walls...

Cool

Aracon that is a great idea. Themed walls for libraries, blacksmith, general stores, magic shops, kitchens and other medieval buildings/rooms would be most welcome! I've been trying to scrounge up decor for such rooms for years. I would love to have some of the old Gendel stuff, but the 30% of order shipping cost is insane. Thomarillion's stuff looks good too, and might prove too tempting if the Euro falls much further against the dollar. All in all the stuff I have gotten I haven't painted much of mainly because most of it doesn't fit very well with my DF and I'm lazy.

In short theme walls are a really good idea....and maybe some loose corners and those smaller MBS doors. :)

Check out Fenryll for theme gear. I recall some nice sets for dressing up a smithy, a shop, and so on.

I picked up some Fenryll at a game store in chicago called Games Plus. Their stuff is highly recommended. When I get the items all painted up (likely later in the winter) I will try and get some pics up....

I also snagged some megamins items with Dungeon Decor. (you can snag their stuff on ebay)

Finally, Games Plus also had some Black Tree Designs in stock. I especially like the Butcher's market stall.

For anyone looking for bargain priced Sci-Fi stuff, be sure to contact Game Plus. They had a bunch of old Sci-Fi things there along with some mystic works bargain priced. For example, they had a gallows for $2.80, some sci-fi trees, some interesting sci-fi pipes, drums, etc and several pre-cast buildings, ruined castles, all bargain priced.

Cool

Leading directly into a new adventure, finding out WHO, WHY, and best of all, PAYBACK!

Okay, Stefan, you have your challenge; don't make me chop up a whole set or more of MBS for this one! Besides, YOU'LL do a MUCH BETTER JOB of it!
