Hello,

camoudragon and i have some of the very cool river, lake and lake expansion sets.

But now, after some time some of the pieces show a strange, creeping miscolor from
the edges inwards. Maybe there is some sort micro-bubble that was filled with fluids that
have vaporized over the time (it looks so).

The pieces now look disturbing in a setup. Have you an idea how that can be fixed,
and has any other experianced this problem ?

I too am noticing the same thing. I was literally coming here to post about it when I saw your post. I have probably 5-6 pieces with this problem.

ditto, but for me they actually came that way and it seems to be mostly affecting the open water tiles.

yep i sorted the pieces with this kind of damage out to take pictures of them and now after some time (and not taking the pictures) the damage has grown - maybe because they are not in plastic bags and the styrofoam box but out in the open - how do you store them?
(none of it is an open water tile)

Can you guys post some pics of this phenomenon? I haven't looked at my pieces in quite awhile but would like to see exactly (visually) what you guys are referring to.

Thanks in advance!

Hmmm. Can you please post a picure. Perhaps it has something to do with the space between the painted part and the clear resin on top of that...or else, a chipped part?

I do not think it is a widespread problem (sure hope not) since this is the first time we have tried this sort of creation...could be a number of different factors i am guessing...perhaps If moisture or humidity were to get between these two levels? I really have no idea actually...my sets are all O.K. although i have seen something like your describing when I set up our massive Gen Con display last year and I figured it was due to wear and tear? We lug the display sets everywhere...
If you could be kind enough to post a picture and/or explain also, which particular sets you are reffering to it would help a great deal...

Thanks.

Please send me photos of the problem pieces. I would greatly appreciate it so we can trace and quantify the problem. None of our pieces here have this problem.

I do have approx (8-12) like that myself - affected in slight, moderate to noticable degrees, but please keep in mind this is out of a very large number (of over 100) of just the lake and open water pieces -and the others appear unaffected. At present, there are only 3 pieces that I actually would avoid using, whenever possible. Admittedly, I do not know if their condition is subject to change over time as I have not yet unpacked the water pieces often enough (due to excellent, but exact packaging) to have determined that.

The most affected piece does show obvious separation from the painted base and the clear resin along one of the edges.

Some good news (I guess) is that the separation appears to be very "clean" in every example that I have (all of the paint remains adhered to the base) so the clear resin remains clear. The discoluration appears due to air pockets between the two mediums and usually occurs in pieces with extensive water-covered sides and/or corners.

I think if those pieces were glued/sealed on the sides that may help for future versions.

Stefan/Jeff

Is there a type of glue (specific brand-name) or adhesive that could safely be used on these types of resin (along the edges) without damaging or discolouring them?

Personally, it would be reassuring being able to quickly seal/protect the edges of the other pieces myself, just in case.

I figured this would be the type of question that a manufacturer may be able to most-effectively provide, having specific knowledge of the original (and exact) composition materials. So, I thought I'd pose the question to see if there is the possibility.

I know pictures (of the affected pieces) would be most helpful, unfortunately I do not own a digital camera myself. Although if needs be, I can provide pictures and a specific count in time -if necessary.

Thanks

BTW,

I'm reeeeeally looking forward to the Chasm (and especially the new MM) sets!!! Will summer EVER get here?

I have several defective tiles as well. I'll try to get a pic of the defects up. I'm noticing about a 2%-3% defect rate per tile (sample size is 30 sets)

As a side note, I have a lot of the older cavern tiles with paint and no resin in the puddles.

I have several river sets and have been using most of them the last 3 months and have not noticed any discoloration. I am not home now but I will inspect all of my pieces when I get home. I suspect that they all will be fine as I do not remember this at all so I wonder if it is a lot issue?
