Lupus, try a search for "library ladder" on the internet. That might solve the problem of getting to stuff on high shelves.

Here's how I store mine: www.purgatorio.com/gameroom/gameroom2006/photos/tempo010.html

Oh, by the way--that "hole" has been filled in since that picture was snapped. ;-}~

After seeing all of these pics of "best attempt" storage techniques, I've come to the conclusion that Dwarven Forge may need to rescue us at some point...

...could you imagine a DF designed storage cabinet that could reside in our game rooms, large enough to hold our massive collections, and fully tricked out in appearance (courtesy of Stefan's twisted mind!). Now THAT, my friends, would be cool! I would buy 2 of them...and no, I'm not joking...heh.

I'm sure it's just a cavernous dream on my part, but Hey -- you never know. :)

I like the idea of a themed storage solution. would make for an atmospheric room where gaming could also be held :)

Not sure about how well accepted that would be with the wife. she kinda doesn't like some of my interior design suggestions when it comes to gaming themed furniture. but then again, she's more than likely correct with my tastes :D

perhaps i need to look into acquiring the house next door.............instal a new "Den of Evil" RPG zone :lol:

For those of you in the US;

Home Depot and Lowe's BOTH carry a line of HEAVY-DUTY steel and chipboard shelves, 72x18x36 and 72x18x48. These will carry ANY DF boxes you want to stack on them, they are durable, strong, and B-I-G! The only drawbacks I'VE found are, they ain't cheap and they do have 3" tall rails for each shelf - and there are only 4 shelves.
Now, IF you ca nlive with those drawbacks (plus, they are BUTT-UGLY; maybe even COYOTE-UGLY!) tehn by all means, RUN, do not walk, to your nearest HD or Lowes and grab as many as you can get hold of - they'll store forever, and they WILL come in handy. Check the Web page for each store to get current pricing.
I don't use them because my storage arrangement is different; I stack my boxes under the game table, which is 48" tall. With a shelf all around except two 'bays' created by the legs, I get 3-4 boxes on each level, max 6-8 boxes in a bay, maximum 8 bays. Plus, I have two super-duty plastic shelves with DF boxes on them (not all the levels, however) and two cabinets with DF on top of them. So MY stuff is kinda divided. IF I had two of the monster steel shelves I could empty and devote to DF, I could probably fill them and have only a little extra stuff left over. I only fill 4 bays under the game table.

Just MY setup; YMMV.
