Any ideas on how they'll be allocated? There going to be a pre-sale?

Would it be cheating to give us a ballpark estimate of how many are coming?

Is there a better idea of when they are coming?

Hope none of these are inappropriate questions.

Thanks!!

And thanks for the peek at MBS2!!!

On the same topic, may I ask if there will be further shipments of these* individual pieces in the forseeable future or will these be sold/offered as a "one-shot-deal"?

Knowing that there will be additional opportunites to acquire these in the foreseeable future would be welcomed news.

I personally, would still gladly purchase all of the pieces I need in this upcoming shipment (if possible) -but I wouldn't be as concerned if there weren't enough to go around this time if I knew more were on the way.

I'm asking for clarification as there was a response in this forum (from someone at DF) mentioning the open water pieces may become available around December but that we encouraged to buy them while available. From this I got the impression that this opportunity may be a "one-off".

Any clarification on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

I would consider it as a one off thing, unless there proves to be a great demand besides just a few hundred bought by the few who want to build huge lakes...if they sell out immeadiately then we could bring in more at a later time...I just wouldn't count on it If I really wanted the pieces...I took 15 extra open waters and shores from the display at Gen Con... and I still think I need more...

Stefan;

WE WANT MORE WATER!!!!

Which means more SHOREline!

Is that a sufficient demand? My fingers are getting tired from typing so much. And then going back and correcting all my typing mistakes. Oy!

See ya!

Perhaps an annual or bi-annual (every other year) set with open water and straight shore pieces would be an effective way to market these pieces. (And other items, like Narrow Passages -- you could rotate every six months, or every year, with a different "periodically available" set.) Those who are clamoring for them now would be able to get them, but future customers (and those of us with sorely limited finances) wouldn't "miss out" entirely.

Obviously, no company should market a product that doesn't make money. But for myself, knowing that a previously available product that I would have wanted will never be available again actually reduces my interest in purchasing the corresponding products that are still available. The lake set is terrific, but having the option to make huge lakes (and not just ponds) makes it 33-50% more appealing to me. And being able to make a huge lake means that I might just buy another Lake Set to put a shoreline around the entire thing, and one or two more Cavern Sets to put walls around the shoreline. While an Open Water set might sell "poorly" by itself, it might also increase sales of other sets -- call it a "rainmaker" product.

Hi Stefan,

I think the Lake tiles will go fast; not so much because we want to make bigger "lakes", but because we want to use them for "other" things (sewers, moats, swamps, etc). I suppose if DF has future plans for a sewer or swamp set, then we probably shouldn't be so stressed about getting a lot of these open water tiles. Can you give us any insight on other possible "water sets" that may be coming out next year?

Thanks!

Once we get some inside corner pieces and are able to make lakes and rivers with really complex shapes, I think the demand for more open water and shoreline pieces will increase quite a bit. Also, I'm sure many of us are looking at making rivers that are 30' to 50' (and larger!) across, and the shore pieces are essential for that. Finally, the open water pieces have a lot of utility in the other sets because they allow for the building of canals, pools and sewers (at least until we get that sewer set.)

What's my point? My point is that I think these pieces will sell much better than DF expects.

As mentioned over in the Fantasy forum ("Sewers" by philhendry), water-only pieces would also allow us to build sewers (and canals, come to think of it). So Open Water isn't just about big lakes in the Cavern milieu, it also opens new possibilities in the Fantasy line as well.
