Would DF consider adding a couple of stone-structure (MM-style) windows to the next MB expansion set?

These would be designed the same way as in the MBS -(box/inset compatable), but using the MM stone finish instead of the "tudor" style and then include them in the next Medieval Building Additions Set?

By doing this DF would effectively be cross-promoting the Deluxe Room Sets as a suitable, (and official) companion set for this new line while enhancing the range of the Medieval Building possibilities considerably all at once.

That would instantly put the Medieval Building line at three sets, and well on its way to establishing itself as a viable, stand-alone line.

That being said, I aggree that there are many "wooden" , window and "tudor" pieces required for this set. I am only suggesting the inclusion of around 2 or 3 stone window pieces/set at the most. That would still leave plenty of room for the inclusion of the other pieces.

I am fully on board with wanting windows for the Fantasy MM (dungeon) line, but I don't think I want them packaged with MBS Additions.

When I buy a set, I want all of the pieces to go with a particular line. For customers who like one line but not another, the value and usefulness of a set that contains pieces for multiple lines is reduced -- a set of a dozen pieces with nine MBS pieces and three FantasyMM pieces is only 75% as appealing as a set of a dozen MBS pieces if you only want to expand your MBS collection. I would much rather have an MBS Additions set that focused solely on the Tudor construction style, and wait for a Fantasy Additions set that had windows AND some other new features.

If the individual pieces contain elements of two lines, however, that is a different story. I've mentioned elsewhere the possibility of having a set that "bridges" two lines, but again I think that those pieces should be marketed as a set by themselves so that those who are interested can buy them and those who aren't interested don't spend money (and storage space) on pieces they don't want. (Possible pieces include Tudor walls on stone floors, stone walls on wooden floors, corners having one stone wall and one Tudor wall, and straight walls that are stone on one side of a central timber and Tudor on the other side.)

Just my two cents.

I think they'd be neat to see, but I don't feel the need to see them in the first expansion. There's just so much to be done for the MBS style, it needs to grow a bit before it gets "transitional" elements.

One thing I'd like to see in the expansion: some half-corners like the Advanced Builder set has. The half-walls are nice, too, but those corners are AMAZINGLY useful...

As for now, Wereweasel, there's something out there that gives at least a hint of what you're talking about -- the Ogre's Den walls are dungeon walls with a little plaster on them! Not quite the same thing, but if you stuck it in between MBS and dungeon pieces it might look vaguely appopriate...

In general, though, I would like to see elements like that.

I don't think it's fair to cite sets that aren't currently for sale. But that is a sound argument for bringing the Ogre's Den back into production.

i love your ideas. i was asking for windows for quite some time now and as this call has not been heard yet (no offence-we got excellent stuff instead) i started makeing my own. i did not want to butcher my wall pieces (as i did it with the curved passages to have a round room) so i made some additions to the half walls/corners. actually it is a window on or surrounded by stone structure and you just put it next to a half wall or corner and it is transformed to a full wall with a nice window. i only have one finished piece and it is not painted cause i had to move to a new flat. as soon as i unpack i will post a picture - i can i have a camera now - but it will take some time cause there is a lot of stuff (i think this is a common problem with all the members on the board).
maybe this idea is something for a small wa set with only 4 or 8 windows and a few new doors (double doors maybe?!!!!)

camoudragon,

I think I'll follow your example and just cut some MBS-sized window/box openings in a few of my 2" wall pieces.

That way I'll be able to create my stone cottages and first floors from the very start.

When I saw that early picture of the three tudor pieces on top of the MM/stone pieces I was impressed so much that I instantly recognized the need for MBS-style window slots/boxes in the stone pieces.

There are just so many potential sets waiting for development that I'd prefer to (at least initially) forego the interior wall/wood flooring details (of yet another set) rather than wait possibly years to have these developed.

It will also be interesting to see what the MM fantasy/dungeon windows are like if/when they are developed. I would hope they are not "restricted" by the MBS insert/box shape and size.

I think the window insert concept is an awesome innovation for above-ground buildings (if I understand it correctly). For a dungeon and fantasy wall/door set I would hope for something with a lot more variety in size, shape and design than the MBS window "boxes".

Anyway, that's what I was thinking when I first posted this idea.
