I know you try to he helpful - thanks. But before posting advice maybe check out the situation. Waza is a poor sod in Australia. And international shipments (as mine) are USPS not UPS. UPS is for US shipments.

And now think about how you would feel if you anxiously for you set - yes you might have a typo in your tracking number - but how to tell. And all the advice you get here is - are you sure you checked out the right web site. Now read your post again, especilly the shouting bit - and feel foolish for a moment please.

Believe me one think - we international customers often try whatever possible in our own control. Here some useful advice for UK customers.

Try to check Parcelforce (or for other countries your local delivery company) in addition to USPS. Parcelforce is delivering in the UK and you get more detailed information.

An example:
Last information USPS (2 min ago):
Out of Foreign Customs, July 14, 2006, 9:08 pm
Bullet Into Foreign Customs, July 14, 2006, 6:47 pm, GREAT BRITAIN

Last information Parcelforce (1 min ago):
15-07-2006 06:00 Medway Depot Arrived at delivery depot
15-07-2006 02:07 National Hub Sorted in hub
14-07-2006 21:08 International Hub En route to delivery depot
14-07-2006 20:16 International Hub RELEASED WITH CHARGES
14-07-2006 18:47 International Hub AWAITING CUSTOMS CHARGING
14-07-2006 18:47 International Hub AWAITING CUSTOMS CHARGES

For me this tip was really, really helpful. The information is just soooo much more helpful. And you can really plan and get a reasonable expectation when to hold your stuff finally in your hands. And well - no I don't like the bit with the Custom Charges - unfortunately this is part of buying in the UK.

Unfortunately all this doesn't work in case you have a wrong tracking number or in case something just seems wrong:

Here is my second (?) package (I only ordered once and seems too early for the Lake set)

Status: Advised
12-07-2006 13:41 CAPE ISC MIAMI FL (USPS) Left origin country
11-07-2006 17:42 Delivery Agent - UNITED STATES AMERICA Collected from customer

Whatever this mystery second parcel is - it was trailing the first one by one minute until 'leaving' - and then falling into a Black Hole 3 days ago. I probably won't know until later this week when the first one arrives. I expect 4 River Sets and 24 Diagonal floor pieces. Depending what I will get midweek I Will be pretty happy or frustrated.

And until then I'm definately on the edge and jumpy here in regard to 'good advice'.

Would be interesting to hear if other customers with extra pieces also got multiple shippings / tracking numbers.

Thanks for your message - it's appreaciated. And don't worry - we international customers will hang in. It helps a lot to have some tracking numbers and see progress finally - even if there still seem a few minor glitches as for waza and myself.

I also noticed that just two days ago you were still waiting yourself for your sets.

And whatever you do at DF for consolation - take care it doesn't cost DF a lot. I can think of many, many cheap ways that could go a long, long way.

Waza said
"Unfortunately if pre-orders are so important to the business those 2 to 4 times a year a container arrives is going to be key times that you may not be able to take vaction."

Lol... C'mon Waza ;) He took the vacation then because that is when his child was born. I hope you are not suggesting he not take a vacation because DF containers 2-4 times a year come in... this child was only born once. I mean, you are telling the man he should not take time off of work when his child is born? I hope you misspoke... Jeff works very hard!

I did not in anyway want to be little this important event in Family and I am sorry if any read it this way. I was simply trying to point out the realities of running a small business. Like any type of job there are advantages and disadvantages around all kinds of factors. When I was a school teacher I could only have vaction when school was off, another job I had we had to put in for exact dates of leave well in advance as shifts needed to be covered, other jobs are much more flexible. Nothing else needs to be said except I am sorry if I came across too harsh.

And international shipments (as mine) are USPS not UPS. UPS is for US shipments.
Yes my emailed definately said I can track on the www.usps.com. In case the web adress was a typo I checked UPSand Fedex and DHL websites. I am working on the assumption now that the only thing wrong is the tracking and package is on the way. Not sure how fast it is but last time I had a large package come from USA (from NY by DHL) it was posted on Thursday in USA (just like this one) and I got it Tuesday morning (Mon afternnon US time) here, and then it only missed the truck by 5 minutes here in Sydney to be delivered Monday. So if I am very lucky I could have the set Monday, though more likely latter in the week.

Hello everyone,

Once again, sincere apologies for "dropping the ball".
...
We are also offering an apology and a small consolation (details later) to EVERY single customer involved in the River Set Pre-order. You have all shown a tremendous amount of patience and have criticised us justly so. Incredibly, I don't think a single person has decided to cancel their order. You guys and gals are the most patient and understanding customers in the world. Thank you so much!

Overseas customers please hang in there! Everything is in transit now. We will do our best to make sure everything gets in your hands ASAP.

Stefan thanks for you apologies and comments. I think most people are quite understanding with your delays, and most of the complaints and concerns have been on lack of information rather than the delays themselves. This is only my second purchase for DF (and the first were just "on sale" miniatures so this is my first Master Maze sets)

Unfortunately so many business with great products fail as they transition for a a very small to a small/mid size business. Hopefully the feedback from the community of customers will help you avoid such failures. It is great to see you are listening and planning action, and hopefully that will lead to a sucessful future. I don't think a small consulation is necessary (but will greatfully accept anything you do offer) I think all we ask is you learn from the lessons of this experience, keep producing great products and partuicularly when unavoidable delays are encountered keep us informed.

Thanks Waza.
I'm sorry your first order was during our worst moment. I am confident that it will never be this bad again. yes, we have all learned a lot from this and will continue to make adjustments for the better as usual.

Once again, thanks for your understanding.

Thod - good point. I should have checked Waza's location first. I hadn't done my research and did not realize international shipments were going out USPS (even though I'm sure the information is readily available to me if I looked). So, all I can say is, I feel for the overseas customers. My personal opinion of in-country USPS tracking is ---> IT SUCKS. It's WORTHLESS. USPS almost never updates until AFTER I have received my item. By then, the information is useless to an anxious person awaiting the arrival of their package.

Good luck to everyone and I hope everyone gets their sets intact and soon. JKW

62 sets and counting. In addition, a boatload of individual pieces or sets of pieces.

I think the same may be true for out of country. Because my packaged just arrived!!!

I litterally bumped into the delivery guy in the corridor, he had to find me for a personal signature (lucky I was nearby, mostly the receptioist signature is enough but for this one apparently he needed mine). A bit over 4 days (105 hours, including a weekend) from when I got the tracking number I got the package (quite good for halfway around the world) and the USPS website still doesn't know about my tracking number (not so good)

It's 3:30 in the afternoon so I am need to still work, and the in-laws are coming for dinner after that. Can't wait until they have left and I can finally open and have a look! One thing about Aussie customs are they are generally very good and I have never been hit with a charge (touch wood) Someone else told me they almost never bother to collect tax/duties etc unless the contents of package is worth over AUS$1000 (or about US$750) so hopefully I will never get hit.

waza -

Sounds like all you need to do is remember to never order more than US$500 worth in one order, and you should be okay.
Fingers crossed!

See ya!

but I also feel you defend B). And as a business DF has goofed big time.

Thod

Hey Thod.. I don't feel like you are starting a flame war... I just wanted to support Jeff... if that means taking a few lumps from you..so be it.
Just to be clear, whatever culpability DF has in this fiasco they should take responsibility for and fix. And I think they have. I don't think the 32 hours that Jeff took to be with his family was the problem, and I think that the DF folk do realize this is a business. My specific point was that it was suggested, though from what I have read, not meant, that Jeff should not take vacation when his child is being born. IF everything had gone off as planned, then this would not have been an issue. But things went poorly, and Jeff cut his vacation short.

I am sorry you feel insulted, but even if I were defending DF's business practices in this instance, there is no reason for you to feel insulted. My saying that Jeff should have time off when his baby is born has nothing to do with your order not showing up. I feel bad that your stuff has not shown up... but as I just went through having a daughter 10 months ago... I feel worse that Jeff did not get his time with his new baby and wife. But I know your hearts in the right place and you are merely frustrated... so no worries
