I know there's a thread on this basic idea, but since older threads have a tendency to go off-topic and stay off-topic, I wanted to start a new one to make sure this didn't get lost.

DF Guys -- There really NEEDS to be an update about what's going on with Cavernous River sets. Over at Ebay, there is a simple rule: you win an auction, you MUST pay within three days. You sell an item, you MUST ship item out in prompt fashion.

I know it's only been a small amount of time, but you guys are not ebay, you are a business, and as I often say, while the hardcore DF fans are understanding, a lot of new customers might be baffled. Anyone who paid up front for an item back in March, and then was told about a shipping delay, well, they REALLY want some info flowing here. Remember, back in March, "item in stock June 1" was the idea. It's almost July, and not only does nobody have this, nothing has been said about what's going on with the latest ETA for these.

There are a lot of circumstances that are not under your control. But the flow of information IS under your control. It is essential, a top five priority -- maybe even your number 3 priority after "coming up with great ideas" and "quality control" -- to keep customers aware of what is going on with items bought and paid for months in advance.

When "June 19" is the promised date, you gotta be on the forums as early as possible that day with an update. Even if that update is "Still no word" or "I'm on the phone with the guy now, watch this space!" Fact is, by now, we want to know if things are "on schedule" or "yet another delay" or at least "can't tell which."

I will keep saying it, too -- longtime customers are going to be understanding about this, but if your new business plan requires direct sales only with advanced payment for preorders, it is CRUCIAL that you keep this info flowing so that new customers are not alienated. They don't know you, and these kinda circumstances can reflect poorly on the business, make it seem shady or unreliable or downright risky. When your product comes in $100 increments, you don't want to give the impression that you are anything less that wholly, 100%, super-ultra reliable and on top of things.

WE all know you are, of course, and you have the best customer service guarantees in the world. But timely flow of info, even when timely flow of product is not possible, is still really important.

Amen. I have ~700$ in DF pre-orders (3 cav river, 3 cav lake) out there somewhere. I would like more info more often.

I'm sure Jeff will say something as soon as there's something to say.

I'm anxious, too. But, I've been waiting on this set for what? Two years now? A few more days isn't all that bad. :)

I agree with L and philip. I want more and faster information about the status of my orders. I am waiting for 3 cav river sets, 1 advanced builder set, 1 deluxe room set and several single pieces and I also ordered 3 cav lake sets. So there is a lot of money already paid. Please, Jeff and DF, give us more and faster information

Okay, Jeff;

TIMES UP!!!

Call the guy at the shipping line and ask him (and I quote here):

"Where in the HELL is my stuff??? I've got customers crawling up my back DEMANDING either merchandise or refunds!! Either get my container to my distribution center, or give me ONE good reason why I should use your services again!"

Jeff, I canceled an order I had with another game company last year because they were over 3 months late shipping their product - and it was something I wanted almost as much as I do the DF!

And remember; I'm BOTH loyal AND patient! Some people here may not be as much of either as I am (I'm also lazy, and hate to have to come back and order stuff later, or pay more for it because I couldn't wait).

We're NOT (or at least, I'M not) demanding that you get our CR&W sets to us tomorrow, even though they are 10 days overdue. We ARE insisting that you TELL US WHAT'S GOING ON! That's all.

Oh, by the way; did I mention that DF is STILL the best 3D gaming scenery around? It is, you know, even though it ISN'T the only stuff anymore.

See ya!

I affiliate L's opinion. While I know about the difficulties DF has with the transports and that's no problem for me (I'll have to wait additional time due do international shipment anyway) information flow could be a bit more 'in time' and preferably on the web site.
The last info here was 'we expect it June the 19th' but e.g. this information is nowhere on the website!
What if a customer just watches the 'news' there, maybe because he is not interested in the forum or has not the time for it!
He would have no information at all, despite that the 'in stock June 1st' on the CRL set is gone since a couple of times, which furthermore might imply that it is in stock now and not delayed.
I totally agree with L that a lack of information flow to customers can be very dangerous, especially when the goal is to get new customers.
And nevertheless, since I have also over $1100 spent in advance on preorders (including those enourmous shipping costs to germany) I would also like a proper status information flow, even when it is just a 'it is further delayed for unknown reasons'. Of course a little more precise informations would be appreciated, if possible.

CONTAINER UPDATE!

Sorry that some of you missed my post elsewhere on this Forum. I will make another folder for this update too to make sure everyone sees it.

The container is currently sitting on a semi-truck in Atlanta waiting on a driver to take it to Knoxville, TN. I have been told it SHOULD leave Wed. and arrive that same day at the warehouse. It has to be hand unloaded which takes about a day -- as the boxes are packed tight with no pallets. This should mean that orders will start going out Friday.

I will update this post daily until the orders start shipping.

Thanks again for your pre-orders and your patience with this slow container. We hit it perfect with the Den of Evil -- and I have "assurances" that the container for Aug. will be here very close to Aug. 1st...but this time we had a few problems first with quality control -- and then with customs.

We realize how important it is to our very existence that these pre-orders ship out as soon as possible -- and we have worked hard to get this container here ASAP. We hope to get back on track with the Aug. 1st order. Thanks for your patience with this order!

Thanks for the news! I really doubt that anyone here is actually angry, but it's something you should stay on top of, for the sake of everyone else. Plus, we do LIKE to hear what is going on!
