Question about Cavernous River (as the date approaches)... 8 Years, 2 Months ago
OK -- June is rapidly approaching....

There's been a slight ambiguity about the shipping date for Cavernous River. It seems that I've seen two different dates in various places, and at various times. I haven't been keeping exact track because, until now, it hasn't mattered.

Is this supposed to show at the warehouse on June 1? Or June 15? Is it supposed to start shipping out on June 1? Or June 15?

In general, when can we expect our goodies, now that June 1 is, well, a little under two weeks away?

WHile I am, of course, not official DF the home page has shown an "In Stock" date of June 10th and has fro about 3-4 weeks now.

My assumption is they hit the DF shipping center/warehouse on June 10 with subsequent shipping- which takes a few days.

So that puts the sets, as best as I can figure, in peoples hands around Jun 15 +/-.

As I recall, the first post said it would be back in stock by June 1st. The latter post said it would be back in stock around 06/15 and would start shipping around 06/17. Who knows, eh?

Yeah -- I didn't know about the June 10 date, as I haven't been checking back, but it seems that LOTS of dates have been suggested. So I'd like to know.

What really annoys me is that I'll be out of town for parts of June, so I'd really like to know if this is coming when it was originally announced (early June) or much later (when I'll be gone).....

To be honest I don't think there is any way for DF to give you a definitive answer. I've done my share of oversea shipping. It is never truly up to the receiver when he gets his shipment. If the ports get backed up (happens alot) if your shipment or container is randomly picked for inspection (customs), or if your customs broker is a clown (most of them are) it can effect when your receive goods. Hopefully they get the shipment on time, but like I said, that is completely out of their hands once the shipment leaves China.

Jeff,

Do we know if the shipment has left the factory yet? That will give some idea about arrival in Kentucky, and distribution from there.
I'M not pushing (it'll get here when it gets here, period!), but if we can allay some fears I'm hearing in this thread, it might help.

See ya!

I realize there are factors outside the control of DF, and I'm fully prepared to hear a range of dates rather than a firm "we promise."

The problem is -- every time DF gives a date, they change it! Rather than saying June 1 in one place, June 15 elsewhere, June 10 somewhere else -- just one firm prediction of "this is when it should happen, but we can't promise..."

Also nice would be, of course, updates about it actually showing up, shipping out. . .

Indeed, release dates float around a bit on us. I changed them whenever I get info that alters our last best prediction. The target date is now June 10th -- and that is our best guess right now. Sorry that things change, but we are at the mercy of many factors out of our control. I will add a disclaimer note from now on about these projected release dates...to avoid any bad feelings.

BTW, if it is an consulation, we hit the targeted release date for the Den of Evil. Sometimes we get it right.

Sorry for any confusion about the release date. I'll be sure to make the disclaimer from now on.

I understand -- and, really, it isn't even that a disclaimer feels necessary. It's just that it can seem disorganized if the date changes aren't accompanied by a little news update "this is the new projected ship date."

Otherwise, it's just "Oh, it ships on X. On Y. On Z." Since we're not seeing the changes in chronological order, they don't look like anything so much as three or four different places on the site listing different dates.

Remember that some casual browsers might be REALLY confused.

I'd say the safest way to keep things clear is to include a disclaimer, and also maybe consider including, every time a ship-date is given, a little reminder "as of... this is the date we expect..." so that discrepancies can be reconciled. "Oh, that's what they expected back in . . ."

Or, maybe even better, just a place we can go for the most recently updated ship date. A place on the forum or on the website "Latest Shipping Info" where we know we can always turn for the most up-to-date projections.

When there's a three- or four-month wait for a product, it can be frustrating to keep track of when it is supposed to show up, so someting like that would be a real useful thing to have.

Just some thoughts . .. thanks for giving us the lowdown...
