Let's see, I've gotten my three sets of Den of Evil, pre-ordered my three sets of Cavernous Rivers and Walls, and I see that pre-orders for Cavernous Lakes begin on the 15th this month, with a special deal for orders of three sets or more. And now the Den of Evil Wicked Additions is coming, and another "mystery" set.

All I can say is, curse you guys! There's no way I can pass this amazing stuff, with the new sets coming out that keep setting new standards in "wow" factor. Do you have any idea what kind of sweet talking to my wife THIS is going to require?

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a smooth guy and all, but this means getting critical success on every Diplomacy roll!

Now I do start my new job this week, and I hope to see some money rolling in soon so I can start placing orders for the new stuff. Even so, I'm going to have to be Rico Suave on crack to talk my wife into this.

I love you guys at Dwarven Forge, but you're making it tough on us poor married guys.

Don't ever stop. :D

I second the sentiment, Kraldo!

Speaking as a poor married guy myself, it helps if you can get your wife into the game. It also helps if she's willing to buy you Dwarven Forge stuff for birthdays and Christmas and such. :)

I'm glad my wife is an ex-goth! I remember when I first spied DF back in 1999, she had veto power over most major collection decisions. But as a goth, she just couldn't bring herself to say no to the cool modular dungeon system! :) Seven years later, it's far too late to take it back now! (that ambiguous pronoun could stand for either the marriage or the DF collection, I suppose.... :D )

Like I said in another post...this summer shall henceforth be known as "The Summer DF Took All My Money"! And wait until you see the Mystery Set! It's going to be sooo awesome at Gen Con to show off the two new Cavernous water sets AND the Mystery Set.

Jeff, you're a great guy, and an excellent President for DF, and all that stuff.
But sometimes, you can be JUST PLAIN EVIL!

Fortunately, Sandy & I ARE the kids, so we don't have to worry about 'baby needs a new pair of shoes' and other offspring-related excuses for not getting all the cool toys.
I just have to sometimes remind her that SHE collects stamps, coins, water globes (do you KNOW what a good Harry Potter waterglobe costs!?), and boxed games (we now have FOUR Star Trek Collectable Board Games - and the one that got opened is the one with the LOWEST registry number! GRRR!!!).
And then, as long as we can pay the credit card bills afterward - no problem!

See ya in Indy!

Yep, I'll be at GenCon Indy as well this year. Living in Michigan, it's a lot closer than when I lived in the S.F. Bay area. I'm really looking forward to meeting Stefan and Jeff, as I've been collecting Master Maze since it first came out ten years ago.

Now that we own a house, I actually have room for all this stuff. Now I just need to build my gaming table and play!

Can we pay you directly either in plasma or old Magic: the Gathering cards?

Dang... by the end of the summer I'll have over 30 sets! Good thing I have room, I have a house. Of course, if the Fed keeps raising interest rates...

pfworks -

Look at it this way; houses ALWAYS increase in value, if you keep them up. They make GREAT savings accounts. AND, a Home Equity loan has TAX-DEDUCTIBLE interest.
So do what I do; keep paying on the house, use the plastic if you must to get the goodies, then, as the house builds equity, get a Home Eq loan (always LOAN, not LINE OF CREDIT - and gt one with FIXED INTEREST!!) and kill the plastic! And while paying off the mortgage and the HEL, deduct the interest on BOTH from the IRS bills!
Believe me, it works. And it can get you more money to buy DF!

See ya! (In Indy?)

Jim

PS: Join a Credit Union, and get your HEL from them; it's cheaper!

Domestic problems... Well, as _my_ wife and I collect PlayMobil pirates among other things, the problem is not that great, and as she is looking for the right Gucci bag and Manolo Blahnik shoes to buy, the problem is even smaller. We are both addicted to quality stuff and can obviously appreciate it even if we don't always share each and every passion! :-)
