I agree with Wereweasel's idea that if it is possible for DF to sell some of the river/lake sets pieces individually, in the same way that most of the other sets pieces are sold individually, that would enable mucho - flexibility for those of us who are obsessed with caverns and who may want to make big lakes/rivers (I have 6 cavern sets so I know I may want to buy a few individual river/lake pieces if this was poss). Of course, DF need to be confident they can order and sell and make enough on selling these to make it worthwhile for them. We all want DF's bank balance to stay healthy so they can keep producing these top products for us all!

We will need to experiment with the pieces to find out which pieces from the river and the lake might need to be offered individually. In the past we have tied up a lot of money in individual pieces so we will have to be very careful. We will not offer every single piece individually, but we will probably offer a few perhaps for the Christmas season after everyone has had a chance to experiment with the pieces and realize which extra pieces may be useful...to tell you the truth I have only really experimented extensively with one of each set + the Cavern and a little with two so I am also not exactly sure which pieces I really want more of for myself. Origins and Gen Con will help me think about it a lot because of the massive River and Lake Set ups we will build there, he, he, he...but I am almost definitely sure that we will at least offer the whole water piece individually. Offering individual pieces may be a one time thing though so when we do it would be best to get as many as you think you will need (ever)

I second that!

Extra all-water and straight bank pieces would be fantastic. I'd like to build huge lakes as well, because if you really want to attract the high-quality monsters to your dungeon, you need to have all the first cless amenities.

There goes the neighborhood!

I predict a few things, at least for the river set:

Dead-end piece. That one is almost a no-brainer. Any time you want to close off a river, you'll need one -- both "endcaps" for the river, and any time you use a T- or X-intersection without actually wanting a new branch for your river. It turns every piece into a regular straight river section. Super, super useful.

And, for that matter, straight river pieces. It's just plain fun to have long rivers.

The curved river piece MAY be useful -- if you only have 1 set, you want one more curve to give you a complete circle. If you have more than 1 set, you may want to get curves in increments of four (two river sets give you six, so you'd want two single curves, three river sets gives you nine so you'd want three more -- which you could get by getting four river sets, but then you'd also be getting extra pieces you might not want)

The only pieces I see as useless as singles would be the various intersections -- to get mileage out of them you MUST have other pieces, so they'd be nearly useless on their own.

That's just my thoughts, though.

Stefan (and Jeff);

Why not, when the Lake set debuts, offer an extra water-only tile or two as a 'pre-order' extra? Like you've done with The Raft? Even if it costs us an extra $5-$10 for the pre-order set, that would probably be less than an indie piece would sell for normally, and would DEFINITELY be an incentive to pre-order.

Just an Idea?

See ya!

I'd definitely like to see more than one water-only piece in the lake set, probably 3. I want to make big lakes!

I'm with jkratzer here. Seems to me a good idea to do with the all water pieces just what they did with the sci fi long walls in the beta pre-orders...

Count me on to buy some all-water and some straight rivers... perhaps one more curve.

I'm curious -- why the interest in big lakes?

Do people have game scenarios they are thinking of doing? I know someone mentioned ships -- is that it?

I'm curious just because I don't see myself doing much in the lake -- it'd be straightfoward obstacle, something PCs would have to navigate somehow. Once it is big enough to represent a threat, maybe obscure vision, that's enough.

Sounds like people have more specific things in mind, though.. care to share?

I'd also want more than one all-water piece, so I'd definitely be interested in some single pieces. I'd like to be able to do big lakes. The published adventures where a lake is called for in the set up usually have sizeable undeground lakes.

it so nice! marketing professionals would love that. you are "fighting" to buy extra pieces of something you donĀ“t even know what it looks like (no offence it will look amazing!! i am very sure!!!) or how many pieces you will get for how much money - i love you guys for that! and where can i sign up to preorder extra water pieces?
