First off I must say the new set is awesome! I was lucky enough to get to play on it at Jeff's, playing one of his home made games. It totally alters the way you look at the sets. It is just so cool.

On a side note, Yukon Cornelius, are you the same Yikon Cornelius that played DM with Shadowgate?

DF Collectors,

Wow! Thank you all so much for your great reception to our Cavernous River and Walls Set -- and other pre-order items. We are much surprised by the number of orders we have received over the last 14 hours since the pre-orders have opened. It looks like the first shipment of CRWS will sell out well before it arrives in June -- and it is great that other older sets are selling as well.

We really appreciate everyone's willingness to pre-order our sets as it makes our ability to produce more top-quality sets much greater. It also helps us keep older sets in stock. Everyone's generocity should keep DF cruising throughout the rest of the year. It should also allow us never to run out of our core sets.

So, thank you very much from Stefan and me! You just made the future of DF look strong indeed. We will strive to take your vote of confidence to heart and keep the effort moving forward.

Dwarven Forge Deserves more than any other product to survive. That's a fact, so the thank you is for you and Stefan.

Although the set has less river pieces that I wanted, I have to say that, not only the pieces included are enough for a miriad of combinations, add that the design is incredible by his high usefulness, combination are infinite, and the utility of pieces like the cavernous arc are a lot. This set will give a lot of fun, a lot of use, in much more ways than its original purpose.

And the pieces are so beautiful... thank you indeed Stefan.

Oh! one more thing, the pics are amazing and shows really the posibilities of the set, by itself and in combination with others, thank you for them!!! very well done!!! not in vain you are who make the product! ^___^

My girlfriend is in business travel, and when I saw the pics I had to send her to a public email account in that moment!! I (and she) couldn't wait until she returns tomorrow!!! She wanted to order 2 or 3... XDDD

Jeff;

You're welcome!
One problem; I'm going to have to wait @21 days for the IRS to pay up, and then I will be ordering a minimum of 2 CRWS (possibly 3-4). Am I going to be out of luck by then, or will there be enough left in the container?
I REALLY don't want to have to wait until the next ship docks to get my sets!!
Oh, Help.

See ya!

Woo-hoo!

I guess if I want two sets, I should think "sooner" instead of "later"....

A few more thoughts about this set....

I really think the choice of pieces to include was well-handled. This selection really allows for a LOT of options, for a real substantive river scenario, we can even make a small lake out of it. Plus, it makes the appeal of two sets even stronger -- you get an extra dead end piece, allowing you greater flexibility in making "standing water," you get two more straight pieces for longer river sections, you get enough curved pieces to make a complete round lake (or a complete closed curcuit), and you even get another bridge. So the choice of pieces to include allows for a lot of versatility with ONE set, but even MORE versatility with two.

I also think that now is the time for all of us to start speculating about the contents of the Lake set....

Sure, some elements seem like no-brainers. There has to be at least one, maybe even two, pieces that are ALL water. That's the difference between lake and river, no? With the lake set we can make entire lakes without having to leave "islands" in the middle because of the design. Otherwise, we can already make lakes with the river set, as the official pics show. So it must include at least one piece that is all water. But it can't JUST be that -- there must be "bank" pieces, too. But those pieces can't look exactly like the river pieces. Maybe they are just slight variations? Or maybe there is some BIG difference?

And then there's also the question of little "surprises." The river set gave us removeable walls, skull totems, a bridge, a "raft", and that rock "waterfall" element. I wonder if the Lake set will also include some neat "extras"....

L

oh, and I noticed last night that the removeable walls CAN be placed directly over the water without touching (and therefore scratching) its surface. That means you can have a river "end" by disappearing under a wall. That does help a great deal, it means you don't have to leave a display "open" with a river just "stopping" out of nowhere....

Darn I want more of these than i can afford, I would love 4 but eh can't do it. So put in a smaller order... sigh... at least they won't be gone for good at some point they may make them again.

OK, I caved.... just ordered a second set.

I *knew* I wouldn't be able to stop at just one with this set, but I told myself I needed to be responsible. Well, hello Ebay! Anyone want .. well, I'll find something to sell. Like, you know, a kidney.

This set just has SO many possibilities with two sets. The extra dead end piece may be what did it to me. It just makes the T-intersection more versatile, easier to turn into a funky straight section, for longer rivers.

Plus, with two sets you can do a circular lake with a tiny island, or a longer lake with a slim island:

curved piece --- straight piece -- curved piece
curved piece --- straight piece -- curved piece

or a lake with a larger island:

curved piece --- straight piece ---- curved piece

straight piece --- floor piece --- straight piece

curved piece --- straight piece --- curved piece

And so on and so on and so on....

SIX curved sections, FOUR straight sections, TWO T-intersections, and TWO dead end pieces ... (I didn't mention the extra X-intersection because, to be honest, it won't be as useful once I've already used up all my other pieces....) There's a lot that can be done.

With the limited display space I have available, I have a feeling people are going to need pontoons to get around my caverns now -- who has room for floor with all this river to spread out?!?!

Geez. Just posted my thoughts on the News forum. I'll copy them here too:

I just want to let Stefan, Jeff and all you guys know that this River and Walls set makes me really happy. This is such an awesome and innovative set. I love its versatility above all else, with its gorgeous realization close behind. The removable walls, the parts of the decor you can add/remove, this all blows my mind away.

I want to thank the guys of DF to go on making sets for us. You guys rock. And to all of us fans, a big thank too: our support pays off, really. I give you all a big virtual hug.

Cheers and keep on gaming!
Ben.

Heh heh heh

I also realized (I'm pretty slow sometimes) that with two sets you could make just a small pool with the two dead-end river pieces. I'm REALLY curious to see how that looks.

I can already see that I'm going to need to post two kinds of pictures -- setup idea pics, that don't show much other than the layout, and more atmospheric pictures that highlight some of the cool effects that you can get once a setup is in place...

Hey, DF folks! Those pics of the new set are great, but I just remembered something. This set was taken back to the drawing board so that all the walls would be of uniform height to allow stacking --

how about some stacked pictures? I'd love to see pics of the river flowing UNDER another cavern or room, or in general any pic showing off the potential to stack with this set. I can't wait until June to do it myself!!!
