Is there an ETA for a re-stock of the Upper and Lower Stair pieces?

Hopefully it will be in the near future and would be considered somewhat of a priority. It is a critical component that is needed in fair quantities, -(especially with multi-level setups).

If any information is available regarding this, please advise.

Thank you.

I would like some of these too, but I guess we'll have to order 50 sets each to make up an international $500 order.

(Can you tell I'm still pi$$ed off at this!?)

I really hope we hear from DF about this soon - there are a lot of people angry, and understandably so -- specific complaints and suggestions have been made, we just have to see what they do with them....

Jeff;

I really hate to be a pain in the @$$, but it's starting to sound DANGEROUS in here!
I saw elsewhere (I think it was in DF News) that Stefan is working on something to help you ease the international situation, and I hope it's going to work. The alternative may be to stop international sales, and THAT could have a major impact on DF business.
You may want to work out an international, regional distributor setup, where DF takes a small (non-fatal, PLEASE!) drop in price to a distributor, in exchange for acting as official, authorized, licensed, Customs-cleared agent for DF in a particular political region. Said agent covers customs and is reimbursed via customer pricing, along with VAT, etc.
While I KNOW everyone who uses DF is going to start SCREAMING in about 5 seconds (after the shock sinks in), this may be the only way to keep DF afloat overseas. Personally, I think politics being what it is, and the way every single cretin who carries a 'politician' ID LOVES to dip into the citizen's pocket, we're never going to get rid of Customs and VAT duties. But doing it this way, the individual DF user will take less of a bite in the wallet, and so will DF and the overseas agent. Otherwise, DF costs are going to go back up through the roof worldwide, just to cover Euro and Australasian and NZ customers. Whereas, if those folks overseas really DON'T LIKE having that kind of cost involved with their hobby, they should consider changing the management - there.
Remember, people generally speaking will have the government they want - or are willing to put up with.

So much for politics; let's see what we can do for DF fans overseas without fostering revolutions.

See ya!

Jeff,

As JK said, the atmosphere here is getting angrier and ANGRIER even with Stefan running some interference for you.
A REAL solution needs to be acted upon and soon.

Politics aside Jeff (yes JK, even multigenerational military families see that this is a necessary evil), the answer is what several here including myself have pointed out - a foreign fulfillment center.
You already use one here in the States in Knoxville; what is the actual problem with using an additional one in either the UK or Germany?
These two nations appear to have the largest groups of Dwarven Forge users outside North America so they seem ideal to have a fulfillment center in.
Either should be able to receive shipments directly from the PRC with little problem and then be able to ship back out in an adequate fashion.
Fantasy Productions in Germany and Ground Zero Games in the UK; either one may be a good potential partner.
In the UK, I would rather recommend the staff at Ainsty, but you can see the conflict of interest involved there. :D

Honestly Jeff, it is appearing that if the "lid" blows on international sales, it will also have an impact on domestic sales as well.
Us folks in the USA have as much at stake as the international hobbyists in this international S&H problem.

Please investigate the European fulfillment center idea Jeff.

Jeff;

Rabid Fox has it right, but I'd add one more; Australia or New Zealand. It would, of course, depend on whether either of those will honor the other without VAT/Customs hassles.
I KNOW it will be a hassle for YOU, but will the added customer support be worth the hassle? Will resultant sales justify the extra work?
If there's even a 50-50 chance they will, then it behooves you, as President or COO, or whatever title you've been saddled with (I can never remember!), to check into the possibilities.
Just my 2 cents worth; still hope to be at GenCon this year, so I can harass you in person!

International Customers: Please hang in there friends, we will work something out soon. The steep $500 minimum has been scratched...sincere apologies for the scare, scratch it off to sickness and holiday overstress here at the Forge...

Stairs will be re-stocked in the container that brings the River Sets around May. Many other popular individual items will also come in that container as well as a restocking of many of the larger sets like Wicked Additions 1 & 2 , Advanced Builder, and Deluxe Room Sets

Please, please try to understand that we are doing our best under difficult circumstances and that we do not have the luxuries of staff, time, and budget that some bigger companies have.

Many of your suggestions have been quite good and we will continue to explore better possibilities for our International Gamers. Please believe me when I say that it is important to me. I come from an International family and it gives me great joy to see how other creative people are enjoying my products all over the world. For many years I tried various conventions in Europe to try and promote Dwarven Forge across the globe, and even though I broke even or lost some money I really, really enjoyed the experiences and the people I met. I understand that now that you have Dwarven Forge, you want more!

We will continue to search the possibilities. Please hang in there.

Greatest Apologies for the sudden and extreme policy. Jeff will have an update soon, he has been terribly sick all week. Also, his Wife Lori has recently given birth to a second child, although I have no kids of my own (yet) I have been told that there is much lack of sleep involved...

Sincerely,

Stefan.

That's great news about the stairs, (and especially the shipping situation as well).

Thanks again.

Thanks for the heads up Stefan,
I think sometimes we get so emotional about our hobbies (I know my friends roll my eyes when I start talking about the new DF stuff like a maniac) that we get overly concerned and panicky, and worry that DF might go away. But, as is so often true, you are on top of things, and with a greater impetus then those of us wo are less worldly then you, as you have close relations in more then one continent, and this is your livelyhood. As for Jeff and Lori, congratulation on your newest family member, and I hope you feel better. As great as DF is, it is a grain of sand compared to family and health, so take care of that first. (like you need me to say that )

And Stefan...the lack of sleep thing is true... and we have been blessed with a very content and non colicky (sp?) baby (4 months old) and sleep is still lacking. But that first month was... it was like college all over again, except without my youthful constitution! The word I used to describe the first month was embattled.

And as this is my first post of the new year, Happy New Year!!

Jeff & Lori!!

CONGRATULATIONS FROM JIM & SANDY!!

Stefan and Mari,

Oh, you poor kids; wait until you have one!! DF will lose ALL creativity until you get back on your feet, somewhere around 6 months after delivery.

You'll growl, you'll grumble, you'll be convinced the business is going down the tubes (but it won't; it just seems that way).

But at least once a day, Stefan, Mari will hold up whatever you get, boy or girl, and you will SWEAR that kids are wonderful, they're beautiful, and they inspire you to greatness. Besides, they're lots of fun.

As soon as you get some sleep!

Again, congratulations to Jeff and Lori!

Congratulations Jeff and Lori!

I have a little one of my own on the way in April, so perhaps, Jeff, when you're feeling better, you can share your insights on the finer points of raising gamer babies. :)
