crioux,

That is a GORGEOUS storage chest!
While I'm not sure how well it would work for those of us who have more toys than common sense - and YES, I include myself in that number, with all the DF sets I have! - it truly serves to store the pieces, out of the styrofoam and easily accessible, yet in a densely-packed, small space.
Did you build it, custom-order it, or adapt it from some OTHER piece of fine furniture?

Again, it is BEAUTIFUL!

Happy Holidays, and see ya next year!

My uncle made it to my specifications. It is optimized to fit the maximum DF modules possible.
Each drawer is 20 3/4 x 12 1/2 x 2 1/2

Currently, only 8 of the 21 drawers are occupeid by DF module, All the rest is figurines. They Fit:
Medieval bulding set
Cavern set
cavernous passages set
Cavernous river set
room and passages set
Wicked addication 1
Wicked addition 2
Octogonal room
Fantasy Starter
Fantasy Floor
Advanced bullder set
Narrow passage set
plus some individual modules, and medieval furniturex2, dungeon accesoriesx2 and treasure and magic items set.

So I think that most of you could fit their sets in a furniture like that.

They're looking better and better, having the support underneath is what does the trick for stability of course...good work!
Of course, the support is only need for second stories, not the roof. The roof is self-supported.

Here is the 8 inches version, along with stone window. Notice the glass windows on the second picture, the photo does not show it well.

You can also notice why the crappy plaster is too cheap for this. The wooden planks keep on breaking all the time, and I keep glueing them back.

As soon as I can get and access to a scanner (mine is broken), I'll post the templates, so you don't have to calculate angles.

I used Hirst Art molds, but they can be done with any material. Heavy cardboard and popsicle stick would do the job fot the Medieval sides, but not the stone sides. I prefered plaster because you can easily sand it to correct mistakes.

For the roof, you can make wood shingle out of cereal box carboard. I choosed clay tiles because it is easier to make them seamless than wood shingles.

Here is the painted version of my roof system. They are nice, but too fragile for gameplay, so I made a few more that I will make master mold out of them and cast them in multiple, with something stronger than PoP.
I still don't have access to a scanner. I'll post the templates later.
The connector piece was left unfinished: I had a lot of problems with it so I'll complete it sometimes in the future.

Crioux,

Wow, I must say that those look really great... I am not an HA caster myself, I stick to what I can buy, but those are certainly good evidence of what can be achieved if you have the time and the will...

Nicely done!

Criuox

Absolutely fantastic - I'm following this since a while and really look forward to the building plans. And I absolutely agree in regard to master molds - this will help stability as well as the time spend making the roofs.

In a side note - I also love the Df drawer.

crioux,

I'm just your humble student - and AWED!

Man, those are fantastic; they look GREAT with the paint job on!

You've done an excellent job. What I thought was going to be a less-than-spectacular, so-so project has turned out to be something STEFAN could adopt as-is for DF. it needs (indeed, will not tolerate!) any 'improvement'.

C'est manifique, mon ami!

Now, when do I submit my order, and how do I pay for it?

Thanks.
As for selling, I didn't plan on it, and since I used HA blocks, there are restrictions on selling stuff made with it. I can't sell molds made out of HA blocks. I think I can sell the resulting pieces (Not sure, I'll check) but I barely have the time to cast enough pieces for me.

The only options are:
-Use the template I will provide (soon), buy HA molds and do it yourself (you have to buy HA molds, around 100$ for 3 molds or more, and dental plaster)
-Use the Templates, but do it without HA molds. Requires carboard, skills, but less money.
-I send you 1 of each master and you make molds out of them (you have to buy silicon to make molds, and dental plaster)
-Wait until Stefan makes them for Dwarvenforge, and they would be better. (you wait and pay $$$)

Crioux

In regard to casting HA. You are right - you are not allowed to sell blocks without a license. You are allowed to sell assembled pieces for a value up to 1000 dollar as long as this doesn't look like a business. There is a grey area if these assembled pieces need to be painted and not sure if you are allowed to sell from prefabricated molds.

But here might be another possibility for DF fans to get your roofs without the need to start casting themselve. Here is a link I found while surfing the HA board not too long ago:

stores.castlekits.com/StoreFront.bok

I think there might be a good chance if you provide the building instructions and some people here show interest, that they are producing the roofs. I doubt you would get anything more as credits that these are your design - but I guess you aren't sharing the designs for money anyhow.

Alternativly Jim could take your designs and ask them to produce him some roofs. Last possibility - they sell precast blocks. The cost is $2 for one mold cast plus shipping (which makes in impractical for non Americans). You could do this right now.

I thought I mention this possibility.

I'd rather buy from either DF or crioux; DF to continue my support for them, crioux because he created teh design and deserves the kind of applause that folds and spends!
The other alternative would be to convince Bruce Hirst to make a mold from crioux' designs; I have bought HA molds before and find them very nicely done.

Decisions, decisions . . .
