I'm using Pop right now because I don't have access to anything else. Besides that, these are prototypes. They are proof of concept. They don'y need to be unbreakable.
Maybe later'll make them with higher grade plaster when I can get it. Resin deteriorate the molds. But even with Resin, weak points still break. I'm trying to have as few weakness as possible. I'll try with the 4 inches module and I'll see how it goes.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

It looks good, and will look a lot better once painted.

Continue le merveilleux travail crioux.

I understand COMPLETELY with PoP due to lack of anything else, and for prototyping purposes. Wehn you ARE ready to go resin, check Micro-Mark on the Web for materials; they aren't cheap, but they aren't CHEAP, either, if you get my meaning.
Also, check Smooth-On as a source, both for high-strength rubber mold materials, and for various resins. They profess to be cheaper (more inexpensive) than most places, but again, Your Mileage May Vary.
And, last but not least, IF you use the right Mold-Release agents, resin doesn't bother silicone rubber molds any more than PoP. BUT MAKE SURE YOU USE THE RIGHT RELEASE AGENT!! They make them for rubber to resin, and rubber to rubber - and they ARE NOT the same (I found out the hard way; killed a custom 3-piece mold in 15 seconds by using the wrong stuff!!!)!

Good luck, happy customizing and kitbashing, and see ya later!

Here is a peek at what I did 'til now:

Notice the half roof:

I did a mistake when I build the Windows/connector, so it can't be used as a roof connector like the previous one. I'll have to start over on this one.

It could be used with stone buildings too, but for now, DF don't make any stone modules with windows.. I'll try to do some next.

And for the support for the floors, I used bands of strong Cardboard. 2x4, 2x6 and 2x8 inches. Althought it does not look that way, the buildings are very stable using these.

Left to do:
All the same modules, but in 8 inches. Then paint them.

It would be easier to publish pictures and drawings, is this forum supported pictures upload, like the "cool photos" one.

Sweeeeet. Great modular also with three or so of them on that one building. I like the cross ways roofs as well. great job on all of these. They look perfect. Just mass produce them " with permission of coarse " LOL.

They're looking better and better, having the support underneath is what does the trick for stability of course...good work!

crioux,

I could see this working really well if you had a mixture of larger sections (a la 6x6 floor pieces in MM) with some smaller sections that could be used to fashion specific shapes and sizes.

As for the flat supports: I used a similar approach recently when I made my custom Arena pieces -(see cool photos section). I used this method in an effort to enhance modularity, what I ended up with -(in my case) was producing twice as many pieces -with limited gain IMHO.

What I'm trying to suggest is don't try to make all the roof variants possible with too few pieces. Allow for a reasonable number of different yet complimentary pieces, -(similar to MM and other modular sets) and you'll be well on your way to a truly AWESOME set.

I do have an idea for a structural support solution that would support this suggestion (and your present design, including the half roof) if you are interested.

BTW, they do look GREAT!

I prefer to keep the pieces in 2 inches width. This is for storage, by putting them on their side, they fit in my storage furniture along with other DF modules. Making big pieces make storage difficult.
