A larger floor section say the 4x4 or a 4x6, and drum roll please... the 6inch long wall to go with the 4x6 floor.
Yes, that's a great idea. Especially since the DoE floors do not have any connectors, they tend to get jostled out of place. Larger pieces would reduce that tendency. And there are plenty of corner pieces in the room and passage set, so we mainly need the big walls and floors.

Just wanted to let you all know that I added DoE to my meager collection of fine DF sets today.

I'm extreamly please, as always, with the attention to detail that was done on these pieces. This set will see a bit of use in the comming weeks as our group is nearing the end of their current adventure. I couldn't think of a better set to lead into that final encounter then DoE!

I too would enjoy seeing a set of DoE styled rooms in the future and would definatly buy it as soon as preorder was opened for one. I'd also like to see these redone with a variant paint job so that future gamers could enjoy them as well.

Now to start laying out that showdown... :)

Matt;

Some months ago a fellow DF'er was asking about unpainted pieces so he could paint them the colors HE wanted. I did some research and testing, and discovered that a coat or two of clear acrylic - gloss/semi-gloss/flat, your choice - would allow a user to paint the pieces ANY COLOR they could develop out of tempera paints (similar to finger-paint; available at most arts & crafts or school supply stores, such as Michael's), and the paint would WASH OFF in warm, soapy water, afterward. And, if care is taken not to get the felt bottom soaking wet, the felt would even stay on the piece!
With this in mind, buy all the DoE you want and can get, knowing that you can re-paint it for any sci-fi, modern, or fantasy scenery/structure you want or need. Just remember to clear-coat the stuff FIRST, and use a toothbrush-style scrubber when removing the tempera paint later.

Happy gaming, and hope to see ya at GenCon Indy (my 1st GenCon!).

You know, I've been fooling around with my DoE stuff lately, scribbling and bibbling (points to whoever can spot the movie reference!) and I have a new request for the next DoE themed set.

I want a "regular" door.

I really love the torturous Hellraiser-esque doors, the way they vanish into the walls when closed and the dizzying loss-of-reference they induce.

BUT -- when I'm just settin' stuff up, it's nice to have a clear indication that the DoE portion of a dungeon is, you know, accessible. I usually just leave the doorpieces out and have a nice archway, but at the end of the day, I like options. Some kind of identifiable, non-wall-lookalike door that's appropriate to DoE (i.e. bloody and cruel) would be a neat way of adding to our store of options with a DoE setup.

Yeah, me too. Though, as you said, "regular" need not be regular in appearance, just functionally equivalent. I also have a hard time seeing how the existing sliding doors actually work except by magic (I mean in game). I'm not sure every place I want to use DoE should necessarily have nothing but magical doors.

Yeah, Me Three!
Although, if the waistline doesn't stop advancing, it'll be Me Four!

See ya!

I'm not very happy with my Den of Evil sets right now. I ordered three sets. While they contain some beautiful stuff, I found that one of the three sets I got is painted a significantly different color gray than the other two, so that those pieces really stand out as different and are hard to mix with the pieces of the other two sets. More importantly even with three sets I find there is very little I can build in terms of rooms. There are just too many passage pieces and not enough room pieces. This is exacerbated by the fact that this is a limited edition set. I really wish it wasn't. I am hoping that we get a Room Set or Deluxe Room set for Den of Evil so that we can actually build stuff with it. (Of course it is possible to create some builds, but it is hard to build a large room and have any room pieces left to build any other rooms.)

I wanted to add to my feedback that I do like the Den of Evil set theme, and I think if we got more "room" type pieces, especially straight walls and floor pieces, the set will become a lot more useful. I'm looking forward to what the Wicked Additions set will add to the Den of Evil line.

I just posted on this theme elsewhere -- I knew I wasn't alone in feeling somewhat "meh" about passage pieces. The new Medieval Building Set doesn't have them - a shame for people who aren't planning to get it and still wish DoE were done minus passages, but still I'm glad to see that Stefan agreed with us and changed the makeup of the sets.

Passages are a neat expansion, IHMO, for people who want them, but they aren't useful enough to merit inclusion in every basic set.

The passages have a place in an underground dungeon/evil temple set that they could never really have in an above-ground building set. I wouldn't take this as "...Stefan agreed with us and changed the makeup of the sets." Rather, some sets do have passages and some don't, and a building set probably would never have passages.

Frankly I think the main problem here is that you (Zoroaster & others) bought 3 room-and-passage sets in a fit of enthusiasm when you really didn't need that many. But heck, once the room/wicked additions sets come out you'll probably be able to make crazy huge setups. But definitely, the set is very passage-heavy if it's all you've got. I bought only one and I think that will be plenty once I can round it out with some other sets. The passages are absolutely fantasic looking - even more impressive than the room pieces - and the set wouldn't be as amazing without them.
