Got my first box with DoE 7 Years, 3 Months ago
I just got my first box with 2 DoE sets today (the other box is still with customs I think).
I haven't unpacked everything yet, but the pieces are even better than in the web piccies.

And I only had to pay taxes on my new toys and not on the shipping charges, so I am really happy at the moment:-)

Hey Hey,

Just got my Lake Expansion Sets today. Actually one was missing, and the bonus box of 10 open water tiles too (since I ordered three sets), but, I'm hoping that's still on the way in a second box. Actually I had to get my buddy Scott to order the whole works for me to easier sneak it by 'Darth Wifey'. Anyway I love the pieces and also hope that there will be some singles or multi-packs of the 'single corner' pieces for sale in the future.
My one complaint is with Customs. I realize that they have a job to do but, I think that whoever I had either was having a bad day or is just a jerk. The person opened the shipping box (as is normal), cut open the Water Set upside down (it's marked to open on other side), ripped the sides of the box down and finished with a 'coup-de-grace' of dumping all the pieces loose into the shipping box. I'm lucky that none of them got broken or lost. I've never seen that done before. Anybody else out there had a similar 'accident'???

Have to say, touch wood, I've been lucky. All the DF stuff sent to my from overseas have never been opened by customs in Australia.

But of course, now that I've said that, my next few parcels will be opened! :P

Well, I must say DF packages our toys very well. One of the boxes had a really big dent it it, and below that was a dent in a boxed set, and even in the foam, but fortunately the dent didn't reach the resin pieces. The boxes take some serious abuse during their long trip across the pond.

Senorcannon;

I'm not sure about things up there in "The Great White North", but down here in the Hot Southlands, if we get that kind of destructive intrusiveness by Customs, we can file a claim against their inspectors and get compensation for damages. CHECK EVERYTHING AND TAKE PICTURES; that styrofoam is supposed to serve as a packaging system for storage when not being used, and as such, Canadian Customs has no right to willfully damage your property without due compensation. Or at least, that's how it works here in the good od U.S. of A. I suspect the same holds true en Canada. If not, write to Ottawa and pitch a fit!
Sometimes, you just GOTTA be a squeaky wheel! I usually tend toward the moderate-conservative side of politics, but NOT where a person's freedoms are infringed! And YOURS have been!

Go Get 'em!

Seconding jkratzer.

Be sure to emphasize the destruction of the box and styrofoam, and the subsequent shipping of loose, unprotected pieces. They have every right to open and inspect, they do not have the right to destroy your non-contraband property.

Hey Guys,

I've actually tried putting in a complaint before and gotten nowhere. I think that the US system may have more accountability in it. Here (In Canada) anything that deals with government you simply get railroaded and passed from one person who doesn't/won't help you to another. I've noticed especially the customs agents have huge chips on their shoulders and almost enjoy being smug jerks. At least there was no damage to any of the pieces, a miracle in itself. The even bigger slap in the face of the whole thing is they charged me $100 for their 'services'. But, if I don't pay, I don't get my package.
I still haven't gotten my third CLE set though and am worrying a little about that.

Senorcannon;

Too bad it's so far from BC to Ottawa (which I suspect the Customs jackii are counting on!); otherwise, you could take your boxes and some names on a little side-trip to their HQ and demonstrate for the good gentlemen just what kind of piss-poor service your Government agencies are giving you these days.
I'm unclear on something; do you elect a House of Commons, such as the British Parliament? If so, why not hit your MP with a complaint? You DO have a legitimate claim, my friend! The more evidence, the stronger your case. Get Names, ID or badge numbers, Agency offices, anything else you can to document your case. If you roll over for them this time, they will OWN you the next time - and there WILL be a next time!

Good luck, Senor.

Hi Guys,

Not only am I in BC, I'm in the middle of nowhere. Prince Rupert is just below Alaska and very small. Being in the North (more than just above USA North, that is) we largely get ignored by the Federal Government in most respects. I believe that our Riding (like your Districts) is one of the largest in Canada with the least people. As such our MP has little or no voice. All the 'power' is in Ontario, Southern BC, and oil rich Alberta. All my cries would go unheard. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.
On a different note. Here's something than may only interest a true Dwarven Forge fan. I just started a job at Rupert's new container facility (Maher Terminals) as a Ship/Rail Planner. We will be importing cargo from China destined for Memphis and Chicago. I know that the Dwarven Forge goods are imported via container. Point being, one day I may be directly responsible for dealing with an entire container full of Dwarven Forge goods (depending on which Steam Ship Line the importer uses). We offer a service that is several days faster than shipping through the other ports on the West coast. That means you all get your new goodies faster. How 'bout that?
