I have a silly question not to hijack Sam thread but if you keep the foam trays do you still use the plastic bags too? I put mine back in the foam trays but I'm worrried about it wearing off the paint. Has that happened..?
I'm just worried in advance is all..

Welcome to the boards Yack,

I store my own pieces on shelves tightly packed together... and some in boxes. I keep a few styrofoams for when I want to transport
stuff (very rare)
As far as paint chipping, it only seems to happen on the hinges of the (old style) metal doors...it stopped bothering me a long time ago...but anyway we now make doors without metal hinges so there is no noticable chipping.
All are Sets are now cast in solid grey(stone) color throughout before painting so that even if abused (the way I do) the paint chipping is not really noticable. Our very first sets were cast in white about 10 years ago and we learned how to improve them by the grey casting.

heavy dropped pieces sometimes break on hard surfaces but fortunately it is usually a very clean break, easily repairable with some glue. We use high quality resin.

good to have you aboard,
Welcome!

We gave up on the plastic bags immediately. It already takes us almost 4 hours to disassemble our con setups, and putting them back in bags would make it an all-day affair.

Yep, ditching the plastic bags was the first order of business when I open a set. It's nice that Dwarven Forge takes that extra step to protect your product, since it's made in China, but once it's here, the plastic is an unnecessary complication.

I can see the possibility of using some other means of storage here at my place, since I now have ample space for setting up my Master Maze and playing. But I'll never give up the boxes - there's nothing better for transport. And since I occasionally run a game at the Meetup days at the local game store, transport can be an issue.
