I really like DF stuff and have between 2-3K worth of their products. They seem to be good guys and take care of their customers. I just got my Den of Evil set in and while the quality and finish are outstanding as usual I am not happy with the quantity of items in the box. The set really needed to include three, 2-inch wall sections. There are alot of little parts taking up alot of box space. I understand rising costs and the need to make money on your products. I would have prefered to pay more for a more rounded out expansion set. I only purchased one and would have definately purchased 2 had the wall sections been included.

I don't have DoE' title='More about DoE ...' class='wrapped_url'>DoE</a>'
title='More about DoE ...' class='wrapped_url'>DoE</a>'
title='More about DoE ...'
class='wrapped_url'>DoE</a>, nor DoE-WA, but I will point out
that this is an accessory set, not an expansion set. These pieces are
meant to
complement the DoE sets you have, not to significantly increase the
area of your layouts. Is the lack of three 2" walls a limitation of the
original DoE, or of the DoE Wicked Addition? What specifically can't
you do without them?
As for size, this is the largest WA yet. Classic WA and WA2 each have
only 17 pieces each, as opposed to 24. And if you do a cost breakdown,
each individual piece in DoE-WA is almost a dollar LESS than each piece
in either of the other sets. About the size of the box vs the number of
pieces, I can only suggest that it was probably cheaper to use the
boxes they have, than buy (and adapt) thousands of boxes in a new size.
It may also make shipping and storage easier if there are only a few
sizes of boxes. If we want more walls for DoE, let's start lobbying for
a DoE-WA2, or a DoE Advanced Builder set. Be sure to specify which
style of wall you mean, the sizes you'd like to see, and the uses to
which you will put them. Do we want to make huge expansive rooms with
clear floors, or do we want lots of chambers divided by walls and
passages? Do we want to use DoE by itself, or will we be surrounding
standard stone floors with DoE walls (or vice versa)? Are we intent on
(shudder) stacking our DoE? The more they know about WHY we want what
we mention on the forums, the better DF can respond to our needs.

BTW, the formatting and exposed code above is what happens when you edit a post since the auto-linking started.

Just sayin'.

Yeah that's happened to me a few times too...

My only complaint is on balance, the two big floors with nothing to contain them is my complaint. It was my same complaint with Sci-fi ALpha, which got resolved with Beta, but it took a long time. If there were just one of the big 6x6 floors it wouldn't have been to bad and i likely wouldn't have complained but two such Huge floor sections with no real chance of incloseing them is a problem in my mind with balance.

The detial and quality on this set makes the quanity a none issue, for me, but yeah balance was a bit off, to much floor space with little to enclose it in this set, makes it a bit too lopsided and not even with owning DoE i will have to say that the big floors are going to either be used as transition bits for now, or used in other setups as dressing, and not used that much in a straight DoE set up because it will be hard to enclose them.

Hopefully, there will be more added here in the future to expand the Den-Of-Evil Wicked Additions even more.

I agree with you Ghenghis, to the extent that more walls would be welcome here. I think I read somewhere in another thread that hinted to more DOE WA goodies at some point. It sounded like there might be more tricks up their sleeves on this set...if true, then I'm looking forward to it!

Well, one trick you can use is to use the backsides of other wall pieces to help contain rooms. You don't get the DOE walls, but you also then do not have the floor transition from standard to DOE floors.

As a side note, a set I'd love to see would consist of nothing but floor tiles with different type floors - cobblestone, colored tile, mosaics, brick, etc.

Yes, there was a comment that mentioned the DOE ROOM SET will be out next year ... more ROOM components to offset all of the corridor pieces from what was, essentially, the DOE "Room and Passage" set. IIRC, there was also mention of the long walls that we'd all love to have.

I love this latest expansion and have no problems with the make-up of the set ... probably because we already had confirmation of the soon-to-come follow-up sets.

I do hope that the columns can be made available as sets of four (or more) in the future ... too many ideas, too many heights, too few columns :)

I love my set. I just got it on Monday and opened it up yesterday.

I also like the fact that almost all the pieces have the same shape as other pieces that have been produced, so it won't take me long to do the artwork. 8-)

When the Doe WA set was first announced, I was among those agitating for 6" walls. When it leaked that a DoE Deluxe Room set was in the offing, I quickly shut UP about 6" walls, and I'm glad I did. It allowed DF to put more Wicked stuff in the WICKED Additions set.

We occasionally get overboard about complaining over what each set contains, and forget to notice that a set Title often contains a better set of clues as to WHAT is IN THERE. We also need to remember that ANY set is going to be a compromise of what's done and what the MAJORITY of users ask for, along with what is planned down the road. It's a fine balance, and ON THE WHOLE, I think Stefan and Jeff have done a pretty good job of juggling what we all whine about (and YES, I include MYSELF in the category 'whiner', because Dad always told me "Never Lie, you WILL get caught, sooner or later.").

See ya!

I got my sets yesterday and broke them out immediately. The attention to detail is excellent, as usual, and I very much like how the demon archway turned out.

Someone pointed out that the color of the platform body pool is off. On my sets, the color of the pool matches the flayed demons of the archway. I think it works well, but I understand their point.

All in all, very pleased with the set.

But I have to agree with others on this board and say that I doubt I'll use the set much until a set with more walls pieces is released. Unless I mix and match the walls, and what self-respecting cleric of (insert the name of your favorite evil deity here) would do that, I can't complete a decent sized room with the two DOE and two DOE WA sets that I have.

Point is, I am eagerly awaiting the release of the DOE room set.

Cheers,

Ah, but you see, the temple of [evil diety] began as a simple altar in the middle of an existing structure -- as its followers carry out their dark rites and [evil diety] gains more power, the dungeon/temple/ruin/cavern in which the altar was located begins to physically change to reflect the growing evil. If the DoE elements ever totally overwhelm the traditional elements, then [evil diety] will rise and lay waste to the world...

Folks I was neither whining nor complaining. Just sharing some customer feedback. I have been very happy with CR, CL and MBS. I am unhappy with DOEWA. After being on these boards a little while I feel reasonably certain that DF values its customers opinions. I will get over it and I will buy the next set but if my feedback makes the next set better then that is a good thing.
