The post said that they "hope" to make an announcement on Friday. Nothing was promised.

I agree with Dante's point, though I don't personally feel upset at this point. Regardless of whether there was a promise or not, because I like this company so much I want to share with them that, as a customer, keeping me informed goes a long way to keeping me happy and patient, even if all you can say is "Sorry, we've run into more difficulties than anticipated. We won't have an update until (insert suitable day)."

DaggerdaleDM, your point is well taken but in the business world--small or large, when you make a statement like that, it still sets up an expectation even to those who understand the difference between "may" and "may not."

At the very least, a "no news yet" announcement would have sufficed instead of the silence offered.

Again, don't get me wrong, I absolutely stand 100% behind Dwarven Forge products. I'm just advocating better, more reliable PR.

I see it both ways --

On the one hand, I agree that good PR is important, and that it can't be THAT hard to squeeze in a quick "Sorry, complications. News coming soon, we promise." It just can't be. Five minutes.

On the other hand, I know that Jeff et. al are swamped, that DF is a small business with a relatively low profit margin, and that this isn't like dealing with big companies with huge staffs and so on. You have to apply different standards here.

I wasn't really all that confident that news would show up on Friday -- I was just glad I could take the week off from watching like a hawk, ready to pounce. Now that Friday's gone, I'm back to watching like a hawk, so I still hope that when news does come, it's an announcement.

In fact, given that this set is LE and only available through them, I really hope they announce the pre-sale in advance, so we have time and nobody gets caught unaware, and that they STICK TO THE DATE. I want to know I can place my order and be confident a set will be reserved for me. I don't want to have to sit by my computer for weeks, waiting, only to discover that if my wife and I go away for a weekend, I'll come back to find the set already sold out. As long as they give an announcement and hold to it, I will be happy.

Well said Dante and L, and I didn't mean to point out anything specifically to you. I should have prefaced the message was for everyone to note that they said "hope" to post something.

I have worked on some high profile projects where everyone on a team of 10 were working through the night with internet commerce and servers we kept thinking that any moment we would have it, and then run into a snag. Hours and hours would go by without a word from us as we were so ingrossed in our work that we hadn't noticed when our deadline for news was up.

I'm not defending the lack of news, as I too keep checking and hoping to see "The" announcement . I'm just asking for some understanding for a company that has given all of us here years of fun and magic. It is after all just stuff, right?....yeah, right! I want my mastermaze! :)

Hi

In defense of Dante I have to say that it still should be possible here on these boards to give Dwarvenforge some constructive criticism. It is correct - there was no promose - but just four hours after Jeffs posting there was the first user asking DF to post something in case there would be a delay.

A short message would have been possible and probably would save work as well - as some people might phone in or mail Jeff directly - causing more work as leaving a short message.

All the DF stuff is great - and I really look forward to get the DOE - but buying it shouldn't be such a pain. Eight weeks ago I started on my Quest to buy some stuff. I managed to get a floor set on E-Bay. Another order never got executed because I wasn't able to pay (I actually had organized a US address for shipment).

Since then I got a small award here at work which is meant as a small gesture to buy something you like - 100 pounds (approx. 180 dollar) which I slated to use for DF. There have been times when I thought - should I walk away and invest elsewhere - Hirst Arts, DD minis, Mystic Blocks - but then I come back to these pages and decide to be loyal.

But this way DF will lose out completely on any impuls buys from my side.

DF, Jeff - if there are ways in which this group of followers here on the board can help you - let them know. But please communicate.

Greetings

It's sort of like a catch-22: One can either ignore the boards and "happen" upon the news that the pre-ordering has started, which leaves one open to missing out on the opportunity to purchase the pieces should a run on them take place, or, one can keep checking back day-to-day in the hopes that there is news.

I guess I'll go back under the wire till something happens.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that this stuff won't sell out in a few days! If they're producing 1,500 sets, and only selling them via the website, that would mean each forum member having to order 4 sets each for them all to go. I would be very surprised if more than 25% of the 387 members are still 'active', so I'm about to take a holiday, and won't lose any sleep over Den of Evil.

I also feel that I should say that it's a pretty poor way for a company to treat it's faithful customers, and I've got better things to do with my life than waiting for message board announcements that are never made.

Come on DF, it's time for the company to raise it's customer service to the same high standard of it's product!

I just sent Dwarven Forge an email asking them to post an update to this message forum topic. Hopefully we'll hear from them soon with any kind of news.

Please check other announcements. We had to wait until this morning for "behind the scenes" reasons. A principle in the business has been away from his email. Sorry for the delay.
