Sounds like HeroQuestFrance is not particularly enthusiastic about the icy cavern set?

Just got my order in! I passed on the Woodland set, pretty much because I can't afford it right now, but the Ice Cavern is something I just had to make room for. For those same financial reasons, I couldn't get the special deal, which is a shame, but I really think the set is stupendous all on its own anyway.

Really looking forward to setting this bad boy up. The use of the clear resin is really awesome. I'll admit, my first impression was that there wasn't enough of it, especially since I'm used to seeing "homemade" ice caverns done in pure clear resin. But once I got over that, I realized just how much more awesome it is to be a little restrained with the clear resin, to use it as a highlight rather than a focus. This is a natural cavern, after all, and the ice would be more of a flourish than the dominant substance. Plus, on a practical level, there's less concern about breakage, or yellowing with time, or just increased costs of production, this way.

Overall, people can probably expect a certain amount of photos from me (ahem) once I have mine. It may take awhile, since I had it delivered to my work and I'll be on holiday vacation soon, so I may not get it in time if it doesn't get here by the end of next week. But I do assure you, there will be pictures.

There will be snow in Florida this winter after all! Artificial resin snow and ice -- huzzah!

I really look forward to your pictures and how you use the Ice Cavern. I think the sideway pictures look so much better as the product pictures from the top. Not sure if it is the white background or why this is the case.

So having some nice buildups will be really great for advertisements as well to everyone who is on the fence. And for us Europeans it gives us something to anticipate.

Not easy that I now have to wait not only for my own stuff but for (nearly) everyone else here in Europe as well.

I think they look better from the side because they seem to be drybrushed on the top more than the sides and that is what you are seeing, it all seems to blend in.

Thod, luckily when your shipment comes in it is nearly my birthday so the ice cavern is what i shall be requesting from my wife.

I must say they look much better in real Life, it is pretty hard to Photograph such "light" colored pieces... Jeff and I had quite a time with it...yes, the tops have a bit more drybrush in order for the "Ice" to blend in...

The reason we didn't make the whole Set in Clear resin was the cost would have been 50% higher, yes it sounds crazy but that is what the factory told us...apparently, adding piment to the resin keeps the cost of the Resin which is the most expensive part, down because you use less Resin...So we did our best to add lots of small bits of Ice here and thereand I think, in person, it really has a kool effect...another thing that probably doesn't show up great in the Photo's is all the Ice on the ground, almost all of the pieces have area's that have been submerged a bit and filled in with glistening resin "Ice" so Fighting on this terrain is going to be rather tricky for characters who are unprepared....

Stefan or Jeff, you definitely need to get the pics from the newsletter up on the web site. They look significantly better and more interesting than the overhead shots. I was disappointed that there wasn't at least one or two new floor pieces sculpted, but I understand that might have increased the development cost. In any case, looking forward to some member pics!

My initial, honest thoughts based on the launch photos.

Some of the pieces look like the old cavern set just heavily drybrushed white?
I'm sure this is not the case i.e. get some better photos!

The pieces with clear resin pieces look absolutely awesome though.

I'm going to hold off until I see some better piccys or until I can see it "in the flesh" first.

I'm not trying to troll or upset anyone, DF is awesome and I own thousands of pounds of their product. I just think some honest feedback would be good for the company at this stage!
