CAVERN SET +20% :
Final price : 225.05€
225 Euro means 324$ dollars for just 1 set...

In Italy the situation it's even worst than in France..
the custom limit it's around 50 Euro, so no possibility to avoid tax.. and the tax it's more than 19,6%.

I know a lot of people in my country that are fans of DF but they can't accept to pay a lot of money in tax and shipping..
I understand that you increase price..but for European people now start to become crazy to buy DF stuff :-(
an European distributor should be really a good solution!

I am excited about the new products and intend to support DF by buying at least three of each new product, regardless of price. I understand the problems the price increases have created for some fans and feel bad that it is causing such pain to them. I love DF and want the company to continue to survive without compromising quality. DF is a business, after all, and they have to do whatever they have to to survive. If this includes raising prices and maintaining a smaller working inventory of products such that many products are "out of stock" then, unfortunately, that is the way it will have to be. In the end, I think all of us fans want DF to survive for many decades to come. Where else will you get terrain of such top notch artistic quality an durability? While some competitors do a nice job with their terrain, none of them, IMHO, provide the same level quality, durability, and beauty right out of the box as DF.

Addicted to DF - Proud owner of 147 DF sets and counting = 126 new non-bowtie sets, and 21 older bowtie sets! By some miracle, I have managed to avoid wife aggro so far...

Exactly.

HQF - I guess you are not rooting for DF to roll a 16+ at Gen Con???

Yep, I have to go with Sorn on this one. I feel really bad about DF's European customers, and I am sure there will be a solution somewhere down the road. For me, I plan to continue purchasing DF at the same rate I do now, which is pick up multiples of the new stuff as it's released and grab a few more older sets here and there in between releases. There is honestly no other option for me. HistArts doesn't come close, as it is all do it yourself. Everything else is do it yourself too, like Thomarillion. Yansolo's stuff is great, it is just waaay too expensive. I cannot pay 20-30 usd for a single painted Thomarillion bookcase. I can, however, pay $100-$200 (plus shipping) for a set that is presculpted, prepainted, and expertly done.

Well, It is unfortunate, but really about time. The only things going down in price right now are real houses.

Really, It is only fair that DF should get as much for their sets as others do selling them on ebay. Some of the sets are really going at a premium. Also, I would be happy to spend a few extra dollars if it meant you were able to produce more and not run out of stock as often. There are a few sets I am dying to pick up. Oh, and the tavern sets and ruins set I just got from you rock!

I understand the reasons for the price hikes and In the long run it will only put of the sets I buy by another week or two in my saving up for them. So if its something you all must do I totaly understand. I just wish you guys could find someone USA local that could crank out your amazing products at cheeper and faster costs too you. Hence cutting out the big stupid damn containers you have to wait on to be shiped back to you lol ! but either way its all good.

Regarding our EU customers...

We are still exploring ways to get your our DF products with cheaper shipping options. It has been something we have been looking at for many years...but I hope we will be able to make an announcement within the year that will be welcomed by our EU customers. We are really trying to make it work in the EU, but we have to find the right situation for everyone.

Thanks for your patience!

Andrew,

Regarding the pricing on the Cavern Set and Sci-Fi sets...they should not go up more than $5 to $10 a set.

Thanks for the reply Jeff! Looks like I'll have to pick up more sets before the price increase.

I've been running the Dawn of Defiance campaign for Star Wars, and am finding need for lots more Sci-fi and Cavern sets...

While I would prefer to not pay more, I totally support the price increase. Prices have increased for practically everything else, it is not fair for us to expect Stefan and Jeff to subsidize our addiction. I will definitely pick up a couple of sets before August and continue my support after the prices increase. No one else produces anything this cool, keep it coming! I look forward to the new sets when they come out.

The devaluation of the USD and the high unemployment (and even higher underemployment) rate is a double hit for consumers - not only do people have less money, their money is actually less valuable.

A price increase under these circumstances is a tricky thing. It's not like a traditional inflationary price hike, as consumers generally have more money with which to keep pace.

These sets aren't "buy one and you're done." You need a number of sets for the most common use cases. Accordingly, it's not just the price increase on one set, it's the perceived cumulative price increase across the two-three minimum sets that a new customer would be purchasing.

As it is, for those that already have a number of sets, it's a lower perceived cost per purchase to expand their collections. For those who haven't yet bought in, it becomes a higher barrier to entry.

Re:Price Increase Coming in August... 3 Years, 4 Months ago
we here in germany have the same problems heroquest france wrote about.

I would never got into DF if i haven't found a good base of 10 old sets
at local (i count in the UK as local here) shows.

With this price increase i have to think about getting as much DF
stuff as before (i'm a crazy collector and have a good stuffed hobby
budget). Until now i bought multiples of sets to get the goodies,
that would not be possible in future...

I think you shoud consider to share of some of your profit with an
european distributor instead of losing nearly all european customers.
