OH! I had NO idea what that piece was -- I was scanning the earlier pics for it and just couldn't find it.

VERY cool! I really like that idea, of having the set "ooze" over into the rest of the world.

MAN, it's great to have DF to look forward to again! It's been a very long dry spell....

I have posted so rarely, but my shock over the reaction to the teasing...and the utter coolness of the product itself...really compels me to say something.

Guys, the teasers were AWESOME; please don't let a disgruntled handful ruin your excitement--or ours--over something this well done.

And, really, this is a perfect companion to what has come before, both in Den of Evil and other lines. I'm imagining the volcano in the B4 The Lost City, where the heroes must ultimately destroy the horn of Zargon, as well as an entire level of Rappan Athuk, where the salamanders are lounging, as well the fire level of the Ghost Tower of Inverness, as well as modules such as A Paladin in Hell, Hellspike Prison, and a handful of Goodman Games Dungeon Crawl Classics.

I'm sure many here don't make use of published adventures, but if there are so many published adventures already on tap, the unrestrained imaginations of the folks on these forums will certainly take it to all new heights!

Thanks, guys...Can't wait to get my order in!

Oh, a few other remarks:

1. This set is also a FANTASTIC Mustafar for SW minis fans. It's actually great for all sort of Sith goodness, but Mustafar is the most obvious. AWESOME.

2. For customizing -- the blood idea is great, and I can see variations on it too. Dark olive green and brown for a murky-water, sewer-type environment. Green and yellow, for example, or blue and white, would make for cool magic goop. Paint it gold or copper or silver for the deepest and richest depths of a lucrative Dwarven mine... Or, to go totally hog wild -- paint the whole thing in shimmering gold, then paint the "lava" in blue to suggest a really outlandish fantasy environment....

3. About the teasing -- just to be clear, I really enjoyed the story and the way it unfolded. I just wish it had been made more clear that we weren't going to see anything new for 48 or 72 hours or however long it was. That's all. Just wish it hadn't said "watch for pics tomorrow!" when it really meant "to be continued...."

All in all, though, like I said before -- getting me new DF goodness without the usual months-long pre-order wait MORE than MORE than makes up for it!!!!

The skulls are in the DOE pictures. The entrance to Hellsmaw is the body pit!!!!!!!
You may be right. But I don't see those as skulls, I see them as demon heads because thats what they look like.

If we are debating I would say they look like lost souls not necessary demons....

I think it was established that they were meant to be souls. I prefer the more corporeal approach, myself, so I redid the whole thing.

Sweet so that is what the pieces are for....I love DF stuff.

Well I have to hold off a little while for the sets but went ahead and ordered 20 of the floor pieces and 4 of the straight wavy wall pieces for right now....

Hopefully the sets by the 31st. Hopefully......

Dang nabbit...I guess I can not be mad at my mother in law and possibly loosing her leg....or rather I shouldn't be mad at her right.....know more at the end of the month....holding onto cash....grrrr......

Oh well everything works out. Still got the floor pieces.....for future purchase, if can not get the sets before the end of the month....

I saw these at Gencon...unofficially and really like them.

Although I could say an ice set would be very welcome as well. Of course maybe I am biased being in Alaska for the ice set. :)

To Stefan or Jeff,

The paint job on the lava set in regards to the coloring of the stone (the floor and walls not the lava) does the color scheme of the stone match the cavern sets stone? How well will the lava set and the cavern set match if put together?

I really do like the lava set, now all I have to do is come up with the money for 2 sets of them Hmmmmm.

Of course this isn't official and perhaps I should just let them answer but what I saw at Gencon they wouldn't match up. Perhaps you could have a narrow part where they could come together but the color on the Lava set is more of a true light to dark grey rather than the greenish to yellowish grey of the cavern set.

Of course this could have changed from Gencon I suppose. Well even Stefan at Gencon kind of said they were not meant to go together. Yet with the transition pieces they have I am sure one could make ti look like the lava was spilling into some adjacent cavern area.
