RotA Sets Should Ship Monday! 5 Years, 10 Months ago
Most, if not all, of the pre-ordered Realm of the Ancient Sets should be shipped out on Monday the 23rd.

I wanted to let everyone know that the Certificates of Authenticity will be mailed out separately from DF HQ next week. We wanted to send them along with a special thank you for supporting us so well. Your support has been amazing and we feel very beholden to our loyal collectors.

Thank you!

I don't know if this is helpful but I personally would never need to see a certificate of authenticity in the mail or a box of dwaven forge product. You could save some money and keep costs down by not printing/sending these out. Honestly, I get them in the boxes and I have no idea what they are for. They add absolutely nothing to my enjoyment of the product. The product is what matters and the enjoyment of my players at the game table. Which has been our favorite gaming tool for years and years.

Jeff,

I'm with the Daggerdale on this one. It comes to me in a Genuine, Authentic DF White Box, and it's a Genuine DF design - and I can FEEL the Genuine Stefan & Jeff touch on it.
Save the money; the Certificate is a nice touch, but you don't generate any revenue with it, I won't save any money by ordering products without it, so WHY add cost to YOUR pockets? I know, it's a Customer Appreciation thing - but we KNOW you appreciate us! Any idiot with enough brainpower to log on to the forums here, or for that matter, to just hit the Main Page, can tell you guys appreciate us!
Go buy Lori a new chair for her desk, or something. Or persuade Stefan to buy Mari a party dress. Or you guys buy a six-pack apiece - whatEVER! All of you deserve some appreciation yourselves, for a change. I don't know if dropping the Certificates would be enough to drop any prices - I DOUBT IT - so just take that cash and either stick it in the corporate accounts for next time, or go play!

PLEEZE?

The only reason to have a Certificate of Authenticity is to distinguish one product from another.

Since DF has no rivals to speak of (and certainly none who make a product that can be confused with DF), we don't need the certificate to show that it is a DF product and not a Brand X product.

Since these are limited runs that aren't going to be offered again, we don't need the certificates to show that one set is from the first run and another set is from the third run.

Since DF products do not differ in value based on what order they are produced, or when, we don't need (numbered) certificates to appraise particular sets.

And unless there is a credible risk of someone taking a DF set and creating molds from it to sell counterfeit products, we don't need the certificates to keep from getting ripped off.

The Certificate of Authenticity might be useful for legitimate customers who want to resell their DF sets whole, but I'd just as soon consider the original packaging to be the Certificate of Authenticity.

I don't know if that matters, but if it does... I have gotten rid of all my original packaging.....

The value of certificates is to verify the limited edition status. Honestly though, I'm not drawn in to buying anything that is "limited edition" or "collectible" so I would just as soon see DF save a few buck and not do the Certificates of Authenticity.

I hear what everyone is saying, but I think the certs are as much for DF's protection as anything else.

Consider this scenario: Some unscrupulous ne'er-do-well makes some molds of real DF pieces, casts some pieces, slaps a sub-par paint job on them, and tries to pass them off on eBay as the real deal. That hurts the company's bottom line as well as their reputation.

Just my 2cp.

I'm sure if some rapscallion were to engage in such an affront to the honor of Dwarven Forge fanatics everywhere, the Mad Yank and I would descend upon him like the wrath of god.

So, Yukon C, do you imagine that if an unscrupulous ne'er-do-well can copy the product, he will be somehow unable to copy a printed certificate and write a number on it? I'm just not getting how a cert is any sort of 'protection'.

While the certificates mean nothing to me other than to satisfy my curiosity as to what numbers of a limited edition set I have, I cannot imagine their production costs being anything significant to worry about. They do not influence my decision to purchase Dwarven Forge product at all.

But is no one intrigued by the comment:

We wanted to send them ... with a special thank you ...
I, for one, welcome such a gracious gesture from a company I do business with. A thank you from Dwarven Forge just further sets them apart from ANY company I deal with. It's even more appreciated given these difficult economic times when finding money for anything but the necessities is increasingly difficult (for BOTH sides, consumer and vendor).

I will gladly accept their Thank You as the sincere gesture of appreciation it is meant to be.
