(Modular) arena pieces would fit nicely within this series.

I've got mixed feelings about the three-set plan. On the one hand, yes each line has lots of potential. On the other hand, if every set that DF produces is expanded to its full potential, the rate at which new environments are developed will slow from one every couple of years to one every decade or so. And as the number of sets in each line grows, the cargo container will hold fewer and fewer units of each set.
...
I will always consider Fantasy to be the primary line, the one that is (because of its simple and universal design) the most versatile and the one that will see the most use in gameplay. But I love the new environments, and I hope to see lots more over the years. I also hope that when each limited run sells out, DF will safely store the masters and molds and consider bringing it back for another limited run after X years have passed, so that new (or long-time) customers will have a chance to buy it (again).

That brings up an interesting question, actually -- would people prefer current settings to be expanded to the level of the dungeon setting, or would they prefer a larger variety of different, but "thinly developed" environments? We could get the same basic elements -- wall/corner/floor, large floor/large wall, diagonal walls and floors, stairs, pillars, one "special" piece -- for a lot of different places, instead of trying to flesh out a setting to have more "expansive" content.

Me, I think I prefer the latter. At this point, I have so many settings I'm running out of room to display "one of each." I think things like an ice cavern or lava cavern or sewer set would be neat, but count really as cavern and dungeon expansions respectively. I can't think of another setting I want badly enough to displace my desire to see more things added to the MBS and ROTA sets. Plus, I'd love to see new dungeon stuff, it's been so long! (ABS2 may satisfy that, though....)

L,

Care to start a new thread? I think this topic is worth discussing on its own.

(I hope that doesn't sound all mafia-thuggish. It really is a good question for general discussion, but I don't want to hijack this thread (again) and I don't want anyone to miss out because they didn't realize that this discussion was under a thread title they don't know to look under.)

done and done!

EDIT: And to bring things back on topic.... a longer, more thoughtful wishlist for ROTA 3!

A fountain of some kind -- an absolute must. The mermaid fountain was my first DF piece, it's still my favorite, I love the water in the cavern sets, I just love water. Either a wall-mounted fountain like the mermaid one, or a free-standing fountain, either way, I absolutely NEED a fountain for ROTA. Plus, it's a natural for this kind of setting.

A mural on a wall, and/or artwork in a large floor mosaic. The jackal heads etc. are cool and all, but I want a portrait or a landscape or a cool battle or something. I realize it's a tricky thing to pull off, since it takes away the "generic, can-be-used-for-anything" utility of a setup, but I want it anyway!!!

A porticullis without the stone -- I love the one we have, but I want one that seamlessly fits in with ROTA.

A throne -- many of us have wanted one for ages, and this setting seems to cry out for it.

Spiral stairs and/or a floor piece with stairs. They would be SO cool for ROTA.

To be honest, I'd love to have ROTA be as developed as the dungeon setting. It seems like the first new setting that could compete with the dungeon for a basic general fantasy environment. The caverns, the MBS, and the DoE are very "location specific" -- but ROTA, like the dungeon stuff, could serve for any number of fortress-like settings. So -- everything we have for dungeon, I want for ROTA!

Wow! Love it - stairs, doors, 6 x 6 floor rubble and entrance. All very nicely done - and generic enough to use in mutiple fantasy and/or historical settings. I very much second the request for a fountain type piece for ROTA3 - perhaps an Islamic type geometrical long pool. Also perhaps some fountains on walls and or wall pillar type pieces. And perhaps a throne/dias/altar or all of the above. While specialty stuff are a great idea - I don't think it fits well in the DF model - which is more generic and adaptable (we can make it what we wish by accesorizing). ROTA columns are a given I would think - lots of possibilities here. I would think some more secret doors might make sense as well. I also like the large archway idea. Another thing to consider might be some pieces which would allow multiple level setups (includign pillars and long wall pieces).

I'd also like to see the stairs and doors and diagonal walls from ROTA2 to be available seperatly.
