No, I'm pretty sure that grenade blew up on us yesterday.
Oh, well; it was nice thinking about all those beautiful RotA sets coming to my house.
I may well still be able to get one or two, but I fear the big buy went away.

You mean like the last economic stimulus check? Oh wait, yeah, that was a big zero for me... Hope my next stimulus check is twice as big!

And, to be on topic - I undetstand the price increase and wish it wasn't so, but I'll continue to buy as much as I can.

Come on guys, it can't be all that bad.

Sure, there's a price rise, but it's not like the prices doubled or anything. Am I happy about the rise, most likely not as it means less bang for my buck. But by the same token, it just means you buy less often, or less per order.

Surely a price rise doesn't mean abandon the hobby, or DF products entirely?

I think this is a very....bad news. In the futur, i'll try to buy 1 o 2 set max, but now, unfortunelly, i see the end of this beautiful aventure with you.

Sorry jeff, sorry Stefan. The high cost of shipping added at your prices of your sets + french customs = 200-200$ by set ! Impossible !

Sorry my friends

Soon

For me with recent things that just came up...Medical Bills for some loved ones...it will more than likely mean a hiatus....possibly getting rid of ALL my stuff to help pay for some new bills.

Which kind of sucks just sold and replenished a bunch of my stuff with the no bowtie sets.

This though does not really have anything directly related to the price rise but other events. :(

It'S not the price of set perse, but the high shipping that is the most important barrier

Sorry guys - I, too, will be struggling to keep feeding my DF habit if prices go up by 20%, that, combined with the fact that UK sterling has just dropped like a stone compared to what it was against the dollar means that from the UK there is a potential 50% price increase from my point of view.

I love DF but as I already have over 80 sets and hundreds of individuals, I am not sure my wallet will stretch that far? I am not blaming anyone - it's just global events etc. I will see what I can afford next year?

Now if an alternative and cheaper shipping option could be found to 'soak' that increase I may be still in the game.

It's down to DF's energy/ingenuity vs how much a drop off in international orders is likely to hurt them. Market forces and time will tell.....

A twenty dollar increase per set is not the end of the world, and the shipping is not being affected by the price increase.

If my math is correct, twenty dollars is about twelve euros. Now everyone is free to have their own spending limits and comfort thresholds, but a fifteen percent increase doesn't seem like the disaster we're making it out to be.

It's a couple of pizzas. It's four movie rentals, or three game rentals. It's a single DVD. It's a movie and snacks. We can manage, we just have to make some choices.

Now, if your finances are so tight that twenty bucks is the difference between paying your phone bill and buying DF, then the phone bill wins. Real life must always take precedence. But if your finances are this tight (as mine have been) then you shouldn't be buying luxury items to begin with (as I didn't) until your situation improves.

As for "the end of the adventure", it would be if DF DIDN'T raise their prices. There is a point at which it is no longer possible to produce something at the price it is being sold for, especially when production and distribution costs are going up. We have clearly reached that point. Without the price increase, there can be no more shipments, no more new products. Unless Stefan and Jeff use all the extra piles of cash they have lying around to subsidize our purchases.

Remember that the only other price increase was ten dollars after ten years; this bump makes it thirty dollars in eleven or twelve years -- three percent per year is GLACIAL compared to other products. Reduce your orders according to your finances, or order less frequently while you save up the extra money you need to order enough sets to make the shipping worthwhile, but let's not abandon ship and blame it on a relatively small increase in price.

And just for perspective -- soda and candy prices have increased more than this in the past year.
