Sorry that we have not posted any photos yet of the upcoming Cavernous Lake Expansion Set. The fact is we don't have any sample pieces yet!

At the very last minute, we discovered a small problem with one of the pieces in the set. Stefan, being the stickler that we all love, decided to grind everything to a halt so the problem could be fixed. As a result, the set is going to be awesome, but it will probably not arrive until September. We will have some display sets at Gen Con Indy, and we will be taking orders there, but we probably won't have any available in Sept..

I hope to post some photos by June 15th, so keep an eye out for them. We will send out a newsletter at that time also -- with all the details of how the pre-orders will go. We appreciate everyone's patience with us, and I think the wait will be worth it in the end.

Well, that's upsetting. But thanks for the update! Unfortunately, I will be starting law school then, so while I will be able to GET it, I won't have any time to have FUN with it.

Phooey. I was really hoping for some DF coolness on my last summer before Never Having Free Time Again.

I have slight disappointment that no photos are yet available, but you continue to please me with your standards of quality and attention to detail. It is much better to take the time to do it right than to rush it and release a flawed product.

You guys keep doing what you're doing, because you're doing it right.

I'm o.k. with it all around. No pressing need to see the sets or buy them right away for me personally.

I'd rather have a quality set than "Hey! Look at this steaming pile of crap we rushed out to you!"

lol... sorry about that description. I'm feelin' kina' frisky this morning.

I retain my grumble, since I really won't have NEARLY as much fun with it in the autumn as I would in the summer.

BUT I do admit, I can't complain about the wait. Aside from aforementioned QC issues, which are extremely important, the fact is that we've been totally spoiled with DF lately and I need a break.

DF was, for years, a big expense that I could justify because there was so little out there, and even less on the way. It was like buying a car -- you only buy one every ten or fifteen years, and that's it. But now it's like I want two new cars a year! It's madness. So a slightly longer downtime between releases is probably a good idea.

I'm sorry everyone. At the last minute I realized a small change had to be made. It has delayed the pieces by two weeks. I had to have some pieces sent back to me from China so i could re-sculpt and re-cast here in NYC...This will in effect prevent us from having the pieces on site at Gen Con...not the first time this has happened...probably, if I worked for another company they would have fired my ass over this sort of colosal screw up/delay...but wierdly enough, I actually own this company, so, after much hair pulling...I elected not to fire myself, and instead will sustain mental self flagallations, sleepless nights, spousal ribbing and chidding, and forum section humiliations.....

I will venture to say however, that this delay is worth it, and that the two sets that are coming will still be very useful.

This probably won't affect the time frame for the other projects involved.

Stefan;

Spousal abuse, eh? So, Mari gets to razz you just like we do, eh? Betcha almost wish you COULD get fired, dontcha?

All kidding and harassment aside, I'm pretty sure I speak for ALL the loyal DF'ers when I say we'd rather wait a few extra weeks for you tobe comfortable with the QC issues, then get garbage on-time.
If all we want is on-time garbage, we can buy elsewhere. ALMOST anywhere.

Notice how we keep coming back to you?

Keep up the good work, and we'll keep up the loyalty.

Thanks, Stefan. We really DO appreciate your efforts.

Stefan,

Dude I am so happy that you are a stickler to detail. I plan on passing these on to my son when he is old enough to respect them and as it stands now your stuff ranks up there with The #@$#@$@ dolls my wife collected over the years to give to our daughter that was never born, only your stuff is cool and usable. Keep up the great work. You have actaully saved me some stress. I wanted to get some old sets this summer and was stressing if I could afford 3 each of the new sets along with the 4 or 5 sets I need of old stuff and some odds and sods. Now I will have no stress. Odds and sods along with oldies but goodies in june, new stuff in Sept. Great.

So I got to ask. Any chance to slip a whirlpool in since we are delaying?

See, in the corporate world this would have been either ignored, and the unsatisfactory pieces would have gone to market while the suits insisted there was nothing wrong, or it would have been considered a disaster and blame and denials and justifications would be flying all over the place.

I am actually psyched that the set is being delayed so that DF can release exactly what they mean to release, and not just something that is "good enough". Really, how often does somebody take that kind of responsibility for quality? Especially when it means missing a huge marketing event?

DF needs to be studied by students taking business courses. Seriously.
