BTW,

When I said "colourful" pieces I was essentially referring to various tables w food and/or other items, special floor (rug and carpet) pieces, unmade or other "unique" beds etc...

Unique items would include statues, stuffed animals, wooden chest, cabinet, fire tools/poker set and a corner bench etc.

The plain tables and beds could be left for the regular furniture sets alone.

62 sets and counting. In addition, a boatload of individual pieces or sets of pieces.

While beds are great, don't be afraid to use those camping bedrolls inside your inn. The one-metal-increment below the room rate buys you space on the floor in the common room (or maybe an upstairs loft) for the night.

Beds and tables are two items that will be needed in greater number than other "standard" tavern/inn furniture. In order to add variety and increase demand, I think Wereweasel has the right of it concerning colorful pieces. Tables might come in round and rectangular varieties, and might have empty place settings, freshly served meals, or even picked-over meals; rectangular tables might also have food awaiting preparation, alchemy gear, and adventuring equipment and maps (for those pre-quest planning sessions). Beds might include made, unmade, stripped (bare mattress), luxurious sheets or quilts, and cots.

Another item that might deserve its own blister pack is the shelf. Shelves can hold all sorts of things, including dishes, food, wine, potions, magical bric-a-brac, scrolls, and of course books.

I think there are probably enough weapon racks out there in the minatures market, but another set probably wouldn't hurt. What is missing (as others have pointed out before) is armor on racks or stands, or even just sitting out in pieces. Don't know if there is enough demand to justify it, but I wanted to mention it.

Food is something that doesn't get a lot of attention from miniatures sculptors, which is a shame. Bushels of fruit, open sacks of grain, baskets full of bread, and various cuts of meat go a long way to dressing up a marketplace, shop, kitchen, tavern, barn/warehouse, or dungeon storeroom. For a party that has planned poorly, been on the move for a long time, or lost their supplies, food can be quite a treasure all by itself.

What else would make a good expansion pack, and what items would people buy in bulk?

Personally, I'm very curious to see what's in the MBE and what's in the Tavern Set. Sounds like beds are in the MBE? And if the Tavern set is small, I'm thinking not of the Medieval Furniture set, but of the Treasure and Magic Items set -- so maybe those food/drink items are in the Tavern set, maybe even the tables, but the bar and beds are in the MBE? Tough call. If the Tavern set is only $30, I can't see it containing the bar, and we've already been told it doesn't have the beds. Maybe it has the tables and stool?

In any case, I get the impression that the Tavern set is going to be designed in a way that makes a lot of these "bulk" purchases easier. Maybe Stefan et al though that multiple tables/food accessories would be more popular than multiple beds? It does seem that many games would need more/larger common rooms than private bedrooms, and larger tavern spaces are always fun.

Personally, I'm just wondering what will be the fate of all my Grendel and J&P type stuff - they're going to be rendered largely superfluous when the DF stuff comes out! The Grendel items, at least much of them, I'll probably keep stored somewhere - the rest may end up on eBay.

Well, it finally happened;
I've prattled on about customizing DF goodies to the point that now, I'm a method.
Does anyone besides me actually 'kratzerize' any DF, or am I the only one crazy enough to attack it with a Dremel or a jig saw? Actually, I'd prefer a band saw, because it can make straighter cuts, but mine went away (okay, I was even crazier then!) so I have to use my Dremel scroll saw and clamp a straightedge to the table.

See ya!

I've got some DF conversion projects lined up for longer term work but I haven't actually worked on any of the DF conversions I want to do. I figure I have enough of the basic pieces (and then some) to experiment without feeling like I'm screwing anything up.

Jim,

If your now a method, how does that affect your legendary status? ;)

BTW,

Admittedly I've cut just a couple of DF pieces myself so "strictly-speaking" your not the only one with the affliction, although I never graduated from the rotary tool level myself. :D

Anyway, congrats on your new status and keep 'kratzerizing' !

I'd buy at least 12 beds! Great news on the new 'dressings' set and expansion.

I am wondering what/when new Medieval Buildings are coming out and what will they look like - will it be more 'half timbered' style or a different kind of building - whitewashed brick? Log cabin stlye walls? Wattle and Daub combinations? Combinations of the above? How about a 'posh' half oak panelled wall style?

What do you guys think/speculate/want?

Dave :)
