It's called inflation. DF has been ignoring it for a long time, but eventually it catches up with everyone.

OK - but is this an official "we are increasing prices in 2007" or speculation?

The last newsletter quoted a 10% increase on pre-2006 boxed sets, as of Jan 07.

Wow Wereweasal - sounds like you have some excellent plans on how to use those open water pieces! I would have liked to have bought more but the $15 per piece plus shipping/tax to the U.K makes them prohibitively expensive for me to afford more. My plan re the use of the open water is that I would be able to either make 1 massive lake or, like you described, a lot of 'winding, thin' water ways.

By new year, my garage and table should be finished and I will be able to start playing with all my new cavern acquisitions (Bwa Ha Ha Haa!)

Dave,

Do you scour through your local aquarium stores for various (resin) decor?

Most of the setups I'm planning were actually inspired by various acquarium decor pieces I now have.

There are 3 major aquarium/pet stores in my area so I make a point of going to each at least once/month as I have noticed that they seem to change their stock selections on a regular basis.

So far I have 2 large, ruinous 3-arch bridges, an amazing-looking 3-story mill with 2 waterways and a ruinous, subterranean castle (in 4 pieces) all in resin, painted and in perfect scale and appearance. Collectively the price was only about $140 Cdn.

Since you plan on building larger lake setups, (if you don't collect these already) you may find some awesome decor to go with it by the time your ready.

As your setup will be in the garage, dare I ask how large the table will be?

Harneloot,

There are actually a few older threads in this forum (in this past year) that have samples, recommendations and even some links from numerous members. Included are a number of other great items I haven't been able to get up here.

I can't remember the threads titles - (there area few of them), but they are aptly named so they should be easy enough to find.

I hope this helps.

Steve.

Hi Steve
Yes, I think someone else suggested raiding pet stores and I did a while back. I nabbed a load of plastic plants to make some Jungle terrain and some small pebbles for basing. When the shopkeeper started to ask me what kind of fish I kept and how to wash the stones first I quietly laughed to myself, telling him he didn't want to know what I was going to use them for but it wasn't for Fish (I didn't want to tell him that I was going to base some RatOgres as I want to be able to go back into the shop again!)

One tip I would like to give: get slate suitable for making terrain (sides of hills, rocky outcrops) by going to your local builders merchants and asking for a sample bag of slate that is used in covering floor of rock gardens / borders etc

Thanks for the tip anyway

Dave :)

6 by 10? Wow, that's huge! That dwarfs my new 4 x 8 table. Heck, my wife gave me a bit of grief to build that, but she agrees now that it's beautiful, and complements our rec room nicely.

Cool beans, David. I look forward to seeing more pics from you.

Nice size table, David...beats my "black beauty" at 6 x 8!

...but, does yours have 4 Bose speakers mounted underneath, so when you play that D & D soundtrack it resonates under the surface of the whole game-world? : )
