Thanks for the feedback on the pillar. We decided that the MBS needed some non-wood elements to break up all those beams and the plaster. It is a wooden pillar -- but it has a nice stone decoration around it. There is a lodge near my home built by the CCC in the 1930's that has some of these type pillars.

Besides, like a few more of the elements in the MBS 2, this piece can also be used with our classic Master Maze set up.

I would imagine that solid wood pillars will eventually be available, though.

(And we will continue to tease everyone with more MBS 2 photos at the beginning of every month.)

Before I become the Ogre for dissing the stone column, I want to say that I think that it would fit great (as I mentioned above) in an underground setting (Cellar, Sewer, Dungeon, Cavern, etc.) but to my eye, it doesn't fit the interior space of the MBS. Again, this is just my opinion for what it's worth.

It's not a bad looking piece, I just don't see the fit in an above-ground room. Does that mean I'm not going to buy the expansion, no way. I'll wind up with at least 2 of them, I'm sure.

Stefan, I hope you weren't offended by my opinion--I should have phrased it a bit more constructively. You always do a fantastic job with the pieces you create. Just take a look at my current collection as testimony:

(by the way--the big hole/empty space on that shelf is where my 2 lake sets and 2 MBS sets now sit. I hadn't received them yet when this photo was taken).

Keep up the great work as always, and we'll keep buying the goods! ;-}~

Respectfully,

I didn't even NOTICE the really cool trapdoor/downstairs piece in the second pic! That's very nice. Are those hinges? Is there a removeable trap door? There seem to be stairs going down...

Man oh man this is going to be SUCH a great set...

FANTASTIC !!!!
Sign me up for a few sets !!!!! At least !!!!
Excellent detailing ... as always !!!

I like the stone-wrapped columns. Keeps the unprotected wood column from breaking when the local barbarian gets into the nightly tavern brawl ;)

But if the column doesn't break when you throw a half-orc berserker at it, the roof won't cave in....

Pardon if I missed someone else saying so..

But did you all note the pile of wax building up on the floor below the candle... I think that's what it is anyhow...

Cheers

This new wall piece seems to be a counterpart to the torch sconce pieces in the deluxe room set. If you look on the floor under where the torch would be you can see a small pile of ash. My sharp eyed son spotted that one.

I gotta side with Celt on this one -- that looks like wax drippings to me.

It is definitely the piece that corresponds to the torch, though -- there's been a clear pattern of expansions producing parallels to the "archetypes" produced for hte original fantasy sets. I really am excited to see the rest of this set...

I don't know if this came accross but there is an ash pile on the older torch sconce dungeon piece, just like the wax drippings of the new pieces.
