Yeah, I know -- just in case anyone misreads my original post, I was joking around there. I mean, I do really want my sets, but I was just making a joke about the fact that last time I got mine pretty early. (still not earliest, though -- I remember drooling over Dante's pics and thinking "I want mine!")

Yes. We definately need individual wall sets. Straight and Curved.
I haven't gotten my lake pieces out yet but I sure can see in my head that the reverse or inverse curves with the inside of the curve being the land and the water around the outside of the curve, are definately items that would help here.

Agreed...and I have realized that 2 cavern sets - plus a bunch of individual wall & floor pieces - isn't nearly enough to enclose 3 lake sets & 3 river sets worth of water. I was hoping that I already had all I needed (cavern wise...)...and the detachable walls from the river sets - while entirely adequate for caverns containing just the river pieces - falls way short for what will be needed for a full lake & river set up. Right now I have a very nice (and very large) Y shaped lake set up that flows into another roundish lake...but I don't have the cavern or wall pieces to enclose it all and I've run out of cavern pieces to add to the layout and make (good) use of my cavernous hallways...argh...hate to start over - but may have too...I've also started sketching suggested follow on lake & river pieces...perhaps I can turn them inot paper over resin mock-ups and take some pics of them...likely not real soon though as I am about to go on a rather long vacation...

I tried that too. I had an idea to do a very large, central lake in the middle of a nice, complex cavern but I didn't have enough pieces to encircle it. Maybe if I move some things around a bit (or had more table width) I could figure something out but I wound up settling on a "close proximity" to what I was shooting for.

Speaking of shooting, I'll probably start snapping some pics tonight now that the setup is complete.

real soon though as I am about to go on a rather long vacation...

Any suggestions for future river or lake pieces are welcome. I would suggest drawing examples on 1" graph paper and then taking a picture and posting it. I am pretty sure I know which pieces will be needed the most for a third water set but then again, it is entirely possible that someone out there has come up with something I haven't thought of that is very handy...when I design these pieces I cut them out of cardboard and then play around with them and in that way very quickly realize if there are any "shapes" that I really need. As I mentioned before, there were a few pieces that we had to leave out because of cost and size issues that we will most likely include in a third water set...these are the single corner shore, the diametrically opposed shores, and the 3-points shore pieces...if there are any other designs that scream to be made now is the time to speak up...

Thanks everyone!

I'm off to Indianapolis on Tuesday morning until the next Monday evening but will try to visit some internet cafe's during the con...Jeff of course, will bring his laptop for hotel hookup so he will be in touch on a daily basis more than me.

It would be nice to meet some of you during the con for a drink during non exhibit hall hours but I am not sure yet of my schedual...I am guessing Friday around 7-8pm or Saturday around 10pm...probably the True Dungeon Tavern would be a nice place to assemble? What do you say Jeff?

I'd love to hang out with everybody but unfortunately I won't be there. I hope you all have a safe trip to Indy, and have lots of fun.

I had a chance to meet you briefly last year, Stefan. You seemed like a really great guy. Maybe next year I can raise a mug with you, Jeff, and some of the other posters here. I'm saving my money now! ;-}~

I'll be in the Tavern every night, but let's try to meet on Friday night for sure at 8:00pm. Let's meet over by the fireplace. It will be cool to see all of you -- and have DF buy us all a drink.

Awesome idea Stefan!

Jeff, Stefan, et al;

Sandy & I will be there in spirit(s), so tilt a tankard for us on Friday, 'kay?

Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, we'll either be at GenCon or Origins next year! And hopefully, some of you will be at Shore Leave next July for the Jim & ReBob Show - in the Game Room, all-day Saturday, massive levels of DF, kicking some creature butt!
I was reading the Dungeon Master for Dummies book last night, and got a inspiration for a GREAT cross-universe game.
And I'm NOT telling you, nyah, nyah, nyah-nyah-nyah!

Have a good GenCon, guys.
