I do not chime in much these days, but i must say that this is an excellent portent for things to come... This is the kind of set that many of us have been clammering for since... Oh... I dunno'... Forever? ...<Grin>...

Seriously... Kudos to DF for moving in so many new directions... And of course for heeding the frantic pleadings of the defout over so many years... This set looks to be an incredible option I can hardly wait to get my hands on!

maj! {Good}...

The floor pattern was my idea. I sent it to Stephan in 2003. Along with plans for second floor and roofing.

I will upload some of the pictures I sent him soon.

yes, if you wish, please resend those ideas as they have been lost since...it has been 3 moves and 2 computers since then...actually I thought Jeff decided the floor pattern for the MBS set...but who knows.... perhaps he saw your drawings along with mine in stacks of materials I sent him?

Thanks again in any case!

I had trouble finding the pictures, I only found those. I still have the prototypes somewhere, I could take new photos if someone is interested.
Maybe we had the same idea, maybe he did see the photos. Anyway, I'm glad I contributed. You version is still a lot better than mine :)

Have you ever thought of some kind of "reward" program for the ideas we sent if they get used ? I'm talking small rewards, like Rebate Coupons.

BTW, I can't find how to upload photos. The ones I submitted are on-line images. If my web site is down or ever close, the pics will diseapear.

Building a roof that would be modular enough to accomodate different size is no small task.
I have some ideas, but they are hard to implement. I think that if they were to make some, it should be fixed size. But that would go against everything else they made, which is modular.
Even better, make your own. Hirst Art is one of the solution, but there are other ways.

But they should make more accessories available (fireplace, bar, beds, sitting characters) Not that I need them, I make what I need, but they would look a lot better than mines :)

Edit: I've found way to make a modular roof system that works, I'sent them to Stephan and Jeff. I hope they will produce it.

I did not try to make the modular roof. I did some quick sketches, sent them to Stephan. I lost them.

But before I tried to make a modular tavern, I had made a fixed one, and did send some pictures to stephan. He told me that my project was not good enough because it was not modular, and that the walls were too high to clearly see the figurines inside.
Back to the drawing board, I did the modular one you saw in my previous message in 2003.

I did get the roof from my old prototype, and by chance, my old roof do fit (not perfectly) on the MBS

As for support for second floors, there is a possible grid system with different widths, or simply a cardboard.
But again, if they ever made fixed size rooftop, usually the floor size would match the roof size, so they could make a fixed size support for the floor too.

Here are some pictures of my old tavern, and with the top fitted on top of MBS.:

here a link to my village about roof
BTW, have you tried the cardboard building from the WOTC site (and other sources) ? They are FREE, and very interesting for building a village. You can then use MBS for the inside.
You can also customize them (ex: doors that open) and strenghten them with heavy cardboard or wood.
I think a combination of DF, Hirst Art, Cardboard, and your own creations can make wonders. I will order a few Hirst Art molds soon.

Here is a couple of pics:
