I did some roof pieces as well, for those of you who may not remember -- the "Ah Venice" and other city-type posts in the Cool Photos area show them off -- same Plasticard basics, though I haven't gotten around to finishing, painting, etc. yet.

Here's one pic:

WOW.

I am sitting here at my computer mouth agape at all the pictures above - I have never seen, let alone had the honor to game within, such beautiful buildings, landscapes and settings.

I am stupified, stunned and in awe.

Bravo gentlemen - really, really beaitful work. Thanks for sharing.

BTW , I see a lot of commons accesories on tavern pictures, I know that some come from Megaminis, but a lot of others I don't know, like a triple fireplace.

What are the other manufacturers of miniature accesories ?

Crioux,

We appreciate all suggestions that people send in, and we do take them very seriously.

Unfortunately, I did not work for DF when this idea was sent to Stefan, so your suggestion was not used during the initial design of this set. I know that is kind of a bummer, but I wanted to be honest with you. I did the "rough" design of this set as the idea was always a passion of mine as a serious DF collector -- and then I turned over the small details to Stefan. I guess great minds think alike!

(Or it could be that this was the only way to do the floor).

Anyway, if you have any other suggestions please send them to me. You obviously are full of good ideas (...since...well...we designed a similar set!) so I look forward to getting more.

Crioux,

Don't worry, I hold no grudge about this. In fact I'm quite happy that the project I had in mind did make it to production (well.. except the roof). Your modules are studier and look better than mines. :) And maybe there really was no other way to do the floor. I did a lot of other patterns, but this was the only one that allowed grid and pattern match.

I think you should make a private channel for idea submission, and provide small rewards to ideas that makes it into new products.
People could send NEW ideas (not already posted on forums) and would be required to send detailed informations (sketches, photos) of a working model. They would loose rights to what they submit, and have no garantees that they would receive anything, since someone could have sent the same idea before or in more detailed way. You would be the one who decide if an idea is worth it and send a little reward. The rewards could be simply rebate coupons, accessories, or limited edition module (module, not set).

For example someone submitting that you made a Fireplace or Catacombs would have zero chance of getting anything, but submitting something new or innovative would have good chances .

Well, maybe I'll get back at my modular roof system after all...

IO had a kool idea for wooden floors, he made them like flat cards which allowed him to turn them all in the same direction, very kool, I really liked it myself, but I think most people (like the bow ties) prefer not to have to do too much work, like turning all the floors to one direction...as always, it's a give and take between historically acurate, and game play usability/versatility...

I think roofs are a kool idea, after these other MBS sets come out we may need to consider it as a next step, especially If we end up going into landscapes, cityscapes, towers, ships, and castles...if we continue to keep in business I would like to eventually do everything that our characters would encounter in our games, that's my dream anyway...

Stefan -

I think, to do roofs that are capable of being used on different sized structures, you will have to use an interlocking pattern of some type. Perhaps, one where the eaves-end and peak end of the roof are separate pieces, with a straight edge and a locking-tooth edge on each piece, and the center sections of each side (pitch?) of the roof are interlocked, with one edge locking to the peak or the eaves. The vertical edges would be straight, perhaps falling on a beam (joist?) center, and one vertical piece per pitch with double overlaps for the beams so it could rest on either a beam or a sidewall. Does that make sense to you, or do I need to make a drawing and send it via scanned sketch and e-mail, or snail it to you?
The other alternative is to use Plastruct panels such as I used on the castle roof from a few years ago, which I think I promised to post pics of but never did (I don't think; or else they were lost in the hack, because I don't think they're still here). The problem there is that the roofs would tend to be customized for each structure, and probably not interchangeable.

These are ideas that perhaps need further exploration, and probalby not via forum, where it would take too long and get too garbled in crossover, back and forth.

See ya!

I sent a concept to Stephan and Jeff about a modular roof system. I hope they like it enough to produce it.

Maybe we'll see it in MBS 3

Can we knwo ,Crioux, what is your concept, or is it already a DF secret???!!

I think that you should be in the DF team!!:)

in my point of view, roofs are the next step for MBS

when you think about Df, you can realise that what is the most important in DF is the quality , the modularity, the realism
after the cavern, we've got river, then lake, all coming naturaly
with MBS, we are out the dungeon, so we built houses
all of us have, trees, grass on the floor, little mountain, road...
to get a final touch of our table
WE NEED DF ROOFS

It up to them. I prefer that way. You never know, someone might steal ideas and make a competitive product. I gave my ideas to them, not the whole world.

Suffice to say that I submitted 2 systems, one totally modular, but a bit complicated. And another one less modular, but a lot easier to use.
Their choice. I think they have already started working on it too before I submitted my ideas, maybe they have better ones.
