yeah, I think so too. But I want a official answer to that point from DF so the speculation have an end.
It would be awesome if we can get a ED in Europe, but I accept it, if DF only want to sell online in the US.

Stefan?

Personally, I'd rather wait to hear when a deal is solidly in place than listen to every possible potential lead, false start, negotiation, and pullback that the DF crew encounter. They should be free to spend their time actually pursuing a Euro-distributor without apprising their customers of every development. We are not, after all, stockholders.

It's not a matter of "only want[ing] to sell online in the US" -- I am certain that DF is would be both excited at the prospect of potentially doubling or tripling their customer base (and income), and personally gratified to receive orders from gamers all over the world.

It's a matter of finding someone (individual or company) who is willing to do the work to bring DF into Europe. None of the DF crew have the time or the independent means to become a European branch themselves. And given the very odd and selfless business model that Stefan and Jeff and the rest have adopted, it is going to take a lot of effort to find a distributor willing to adopt the same generosity that they have invested in the task of supplying gamers with a unique product.

Read the thread this link (should) takes you to -- I think it will give you some insight into DF and their search for foreign distributors.

Hi Jackattack, I understand what you mean but we hear nothing in the last months from DF about an ED. For myself I only want a sign, if they are looking to find an ED or if they decide not to search in the future. Sorry for my bad grammar. :-)

I understand that the only way to keep this affordable is that a European dealer gets the stuff per container from China. Most retailers can't afford the outlay required for a minimum shipment from the Chinese manufacturer. And you would need multiple shipments per year to keep up with releases.

Hi DF-Guys,
I heard about a german roleplaying shop, that they are interested to sell dwarven forge products as a european destributor. DF answer that they are not interested to have an ED because they only want to sell from america. Is this true?
Sorry, do not missunderstand me, it is ok, if you decide, that you are not interested to have an ED. But in the last month they are many rumors if there an ED or not. Thanks in advance.

Things are at the same state as before. We are still open to finding an overseas distributor, but it has not panned out. The economics involved don't make for an attractive opportunity for someone. We will continue to be open to the idea, but it does not seem likely -- even given the weak dollar.

I have the same problem in Canada.
If I order a single set, the shipping rate is almost 100%
I have to make a single big order to make the shipping % go lower, but because DF don't keep a big inventory, the sets I want are never available all at once.
Sadly, the end result is that It's been a while since I ordered anything from DF.

Yes, we've been burned before...almost put us out of business...this time we are not looking for a distributor so much as just someone who will take a container and ship it out for us to our individual customers and maybe to a few select stores...basically, a fulfilment center...

Simply regular mail instead of UPS in Canada should be a lot less expensive (I think), even if it takes longer. Worth trying.

I have to add my voice to that one too. It would be great to not have to use UPS and deal with a postal shipping option. I would end up buying a lot more product if the shipping cost wasn't so high. Don't get me wrong though, it's worth the price to get it in Canada but, I'd rather put that extra cash into DF's pockets than UPS. Once again....Merry Christmas everybody!!!

I agree with crioux. Shipping to Canada just cost too much for me to order anything, even with the super holiday season special. It's too bad that Canada is considered international shipping. Just to be clear, I believe the set prices are very reasonable.

Let me give you a few examples of how much it costs to ship to Canada:
1. Tavern Accessory Set (35$, 1 pound) costs 53$ to ship to Canada, compared to 11$ to ship to the US.
2. Den of Evil Room set (89$, 7 pounds) costs 65$ to ship to Canada, compared to 13$ to ship to the US.
3. Together, it costs 68$ to ship to Canada, instead of 13$ to ship to the US.

See the price difference? It doesn't cost up to 5 times more to ship to Canada. It doesn't. At most, it costs 50% more. At most!

These prices doesn't include custom fees (15%). I think that DF should really consider reviewing their shipping strategy. I don't know what can be done, but it's far less complicated to ship from the US to Canada than to France. A lot of american shipping companies doesn't consider Canada as international (I believe it's the case for UPS, but I could be wrong).

What I want to hear, as a client, is that you will look into it. Canadian sales is probably a very small part of your sales, but I do believe that it is hurting you. With decent shipping prices, I would have ordered stuff. But as it is, I pass.

I'm actually thinking of shipping my stuff to an american friend and have him ship it to me. I would probably save a 50% on shipping costs.
