We sent out a newsletter with this photo, and check back here in a week or so for more. Enjoy.

Quote:

All of these items will go on sale via pre-orders on March 15th, so be sure to mark your calendars! Note that we will include more information in next month’s newsletter – including info about a limited-edition special piece that will only come with the Cavernous River and Walls Sets that are pre-ordered by May 15th. This piece will not be available at any other time, and it should be a fan favorite. It is a makeshift raft that is fashioned by pieces found in other DF sets including a door, table, and bench.

Below is a teaser photo of the Cavernous River and Walls Set. And yep...it comes with a crude bridge made out of scavenged benches from the dungeon above (or the Medieval Furniture Set). The limited-edition raft (pre-orders only) is made out of a scavenged door, table and bench.

Breathtaking! Simply beautiful. This really brings the underdark to life!

I assume next month's newsletter will have the contents listed of the sets so we know whether to order 4 or 5 right? :)

Hey, does that bridge have removeable pieces so that you can create gaps?

So pretty...

Me likey...

Must have the precious...

Ahem!

Wow. That's really impressive work. I can't wait to get my hands on it. I'll second the request for a piece list. I was thinking about getting two to start, but I might go to three, depending on price and contents.

So the raft is a limited edition special piece, eh? That should drive orders up. Can you disclose the price yet?

We have not finalized the price structure yet. The set will be pretty pricey as there is a tremendous amount of full-painted pieces that have to be thrown away because the poured clear resin does not "cure" properly. There are other manufacturing complications as well, so start saving your gaming allowance now!

I think this set will be very popular with our "Wishlist". It is time for you to set up a wishlist, and then email it to everyone you know -- hoping someone will actually believe it is your birthday! There will be a lot of gamer birthdays in March!

Oh...and the other thing I forgot to mention in the original post is that the Cavernous Lake Set is coming out sometime in the latter half of 2006. I can hardly imagine the coolness that their synergy (Go Bucky! - SIU Prof) will create. It is going to be amazing.

Woah woah woah! Hold the horses there Jeff! "full-painted pieces that have to be thrown away"?!? You should know us DF'ers by now, that's too much of a waste. Instead of simply chucking them, why do you offer them up for "1/2 off sale" or something like that? Put pictures up of what they generally resemble and call them as below-standard or something. That way, people who want the stuff but can't afford it can have a shot at having SOMETHING. You know, to entice them to buy the 'good stuff' when they've saved up enough. Or do like some of the other companies and sell them at cons as below quality for a discount (or give them away) - like Chessex does with their defective battlemats.

Even more, perhaps the "curing" mistakes will lead to other uses - turbulent water perhaps? I'm sure there's no end of creativity some of the guys here can do with it - 'specially with the likes of IO and Tom around!

Heck, if they were cheap enough, I know I'd buy extra defective ones to mess around with and customize and not feel like I was defacing art... I don't know, perhaps paint them for underground lava rivers, dried out riverbeds/uneven floors or something!!

Just asking that your give it a thought before simply trashing otherwise great DF pieces!

this suddenly made me want to dumpster dive the dwarven forge dumpsters in hopes of finding the discarded pieces. is this the sign of a depraved addict? i think so...

it actually is my birthday in march... hmmm, maybe the old lady might be talked into it.

beautiful looking set. i think we'll be getting at least 3 of this and 3 of the lakes(or more...) the bridge is included i assume?

Jeff!

You're at it AGAIN!
You and Stefan are going to get me in trouble with Sandy. . . even if she IS a fellow gamer!
If I keep spending a bloody fortune on DF, we'll NEVER get that new house! (Although we'll have a LOT of D&D fun in the old one!)
I can see at least 2, possible more, Cavernous River sets being ordered come March 15th. Hopefully, the IRS will have refunded by then, and we won't get busted for credit card overruns!
I LOVE the bridge, but like DaggerdaleDM asked, does the bridge have removable pieces, to generate gaps?
Also, the idea from Fu-Man Chu about selling the 'rejected' water pieces sounds ingenious; depending on how badly they turned out, I think I'd probably grab a couple for 'experimental' purposes. :P

Think about it, guys.

See ya!

Another question, besides if the bridge has removable sections.

Is that a skull shrine? Is it a placeable? I am talking about the object about 4 inches strait up from the left upper tip of the bridge.

Also, is that a placeable water basin/set of cascading pools right under the word "SET"?

Yes and Yes to the skull totem and cascading waters. The Cascading waters has a specific place in the set but can also be used elsewhere as it is removable. Unfortunately, the bridge planks cannot be removed, it's a good idea, but alas it too late to change now. Anyway, they look unstable and will propably require a dex check... or perhaps there is a chance for the rotting wood to break under certain weight...
