Anyone interested in a collective order from Australia can e-mail me at big_bad_bossman@yahoo.com

This needs to be done ASAP because how pre-order discounts and how pending orders will be treated is a matter of mystery at present. We can only assume that DF will allow some grace on the pre-order period to organise some collective order but this is uncertain given the information vaccume existing at present.

From my end it will work like this:

1/ Pre-orders to be received by me. If sufficient exist I will contact DF.
2/ Shipping quote requested from DF.
3/ I advise each person of their estimated total cost to Australia based on DF prices plus insured shipping (Assumming we can get insurance) I will allocated shipping/insurance costs to each order on a price ratio basis.
4/ I advise each person of estimate of Australia postage cost to re-sent package to their address.
5/ Each person responds if they wish to proceed and can nominate to personally pick up their order from me (Southern Sydney) or have it mailed, if sufficient persons wish to proceed with order then I get revised shipping quote from DF.
6/ Each person is advised of cost and send money to me (Paypal or Cheque)
7/ I place order with DF and sent funds.
8/ Final accounting for FX fluctuations etc are calculated and settled. (Maybe hadled with a on the top cost to absorb)
9/ Goods are received by me and dispatched locally.
10/ I take no responsibility for state of goods or defects etc

A bit more complicated than if DF does it directly i.e. only Steps 2 and 7 required, any simplyfying ideas gratefully accepted)

Lets hope DF recognises this madness, gets over their new year brain snap, and gets a simple system of their own in place that accommodates their non-USA customers and supporters.

Please email me or post here if interested.

What needs to be done here, as I will say on the other International S&H thread, is that you international players really need to start to identify yourselves.
I do not see what the big deal is in your personal identifiers about identifying what country you are from.
Too many are like you Bossman, with no country of origin let alone a city or state/province, in your personal identifiers to really make an impact on Jeff and Stefan on how many foreign players there really are.
With no country listed you could just be another of the many Americans playing the terrain that have no real worries about foreign buyers.
YOU NEED TO LIST YOUR COUNTRY OF LOCATION TO REALLY SEE AN IMPACT!!!

It could simply be that infrequent forum posters are unaccustomed to putting in their personal info - ie. they don't know how to do so...

If that's the case, the way to do so is to click on Profile at the top of the page and it'll take you to the correct place...

Fair call but in my case orders have been sent etc that should make my location obvious.

This way Bossman it makes the obvious unmissable!
Adds more weight to your argument because you are blatantly showing you are one of those directly affected by decisions made on international issues.

Bumping this thread in anticipation of 2007 release schedule next week. The long and the short is that I am unlikely to want 3 x of accessory sets which means no pre-orderng (as I will have to bundle up different released sets later - assuming no limited editions, to make shipping costs tolerable) unless a partner in pre-ordring crime is found. I am in Sydney.

Cheers

Hey bossman,
how'd did you go with regards to the group ordering last time?

did you get any takers? and if so, how many? if the order was large, did you guys get hit with customs duty? always been a problem with larger orders. Am curious as I might take you up on the offer...not sure yet. but i'm in brissie :)

Lupus - no takers last time but that was OK as the sets were really core environment sets so am happy to have multiples. I thinks some of this years releases will be sets I will only want one ot two of. I'm not really planning big imports, but the shipping becomes OK at around the 3 set level whereas is really bad with just one set. In your case would need to work out how much it would cost to send to Brisbane to see if it works out alright (it probablty still would) Customs tends to kick in around the A$1k mark.

Cheers

bossman,
thanks for the heads up. wasn't sure at what level the customs kick in at. thought at one stage it was about $500A. $1K is okay. not sure if I will take you up on offer at this point in time as I am planning a big purchase, to bulk up my collection. :) Still new to the game and have lots of stuff to get :) Will stay in touch here as the list of items come through. Then, we can work something out if both parties are still interested :)

Lupus - Sounds like a plan. Actually my second last order blew the DF shopping cart up re weight so I got stung extra postage as it was calculated as two seperate orders. Fortunately Lori sorted it out for me. (Thanks!)
