TOPIC: Looking for a set of stackable risers

Looking for a set of stackable risers 9 Months, 1 Week ago
I've seen the threads where handy/crafty people built acrylic (or acrylic & wooden) riser systems for doing multi level builds where mini's need to be moveable and seeable at multiple levels at once.

I know I could probably follow their directions and build something similar, but I'm more inclined to commission someone else into making me a set. Anyone here interested in talking further?

A very simple solution to this is available at any hardware store. Buy a strip of doweling at an appropriate thickness, 3/4" to 1" and cut to the desired length. Spray them black. If you need to, you can buy another long wood strip, 1"x 1/4" and cut that down to make end caps for the round dowel pieces. Mini pillars.

For heavier builds, I just elevate a piece of plywood by placing it on top of common bricks. It's very stable and you can get three different heights depending how you place the bricks.

I think Nielsene is looking for a way to stack usable floors on top of each other, preferably in plexiglass (or equivalent) so that lower floors are visible through gaps in upper floors, with enough room between them to get at minis on each level.

Perhaps something like these?

Well, I do sell 1" wide acrylic rods, in lengths from 1" to 8". I polish the ends and sell them as Flight Stands but I guess they could be used as holders for your purpose (link).

If you want to build something similar to what IO did, you would have to buy yourself sheets of plexiglass or lexan. This is because shipping on such huge pieces is just too expensive. Any store that works with glass and sells windows, also stocks and cuts Plexiglas any size you want. I guess anything you would need beyond that is plastic glue and clear empty acrylic cylinders (internal diameter slightly wider than 1" to fit my flight stands) cut to about 1" or 2" in length to be glued under your Plexiglas sheets.

Yup, I've already bought several of your flight stands.

I know shipping is apt to be horrendous, but I am still interested.

And yes "jkratzer"s solution is my preferred one.
