Q. Why did you choose that AVATAR ?? 1 Year, 1 Month ago
This is a question I cordially ask to all who are happy to share their own reason / story...
..and now that I have finally selected my own, I will start!

My Avatar Is of the box cover art for a VIC-20 16k ROM game cartridge called 'Adventurland' from 1981.
A classic and very basic 'Two word' text adventure set in a fantasy world where I had my first adventure quest. I had to explore, puzzle, stay alive & find treasures in an enchanting interactive story. (Grrr - to those Chiggers!)
This led to me buying and playing 'The Warlock of Firetop Mountain' Steve Jackson book/s in 1982. (Dice rolling and keeping track of life points added to the thrill and challenges!)
Role Playing soon followed when I left school and at the age of 17/18 when I met like minded people and was introduced to the 'AD&D' game in the early to mid 80s.
I have much to thank Scott Adams for. His door was the first to open and led me on a easy downhill path right towards Gygax.

Because Owlbears have always been one of my favorite D&D monsters, because the Otherworld Miniatures Owlbear figure rocks, and because I painted it.

Great question!

I went searching for an image on google for my Ptolus game - something creepy that I could include in the Chaos Book that the cultists were using to mutate people in an attempt to unlock the Banewarrens. I typed in *magic circle* and this one was one of the images I found - a painting by Salvador Dali titled, "Magic Circle". Thought it was very cool (and used it in the chaos book!) and it has been my avatar ever since.

It is a picture of myself, a molecular biologist/scientist, dressed as a "crazy" scientist for a Halloween party. It fits my username and I find it very funny.

Great question Dandare.

I picked my avatar after winning and receiving a custom built portal from eBay. The picture does not do it justice especially when placed as part of a winter scene. It has a swirling center and a built-in color changing light. Players are always afraid it'll take 'em to their death...muahahahaha.

Unfortunately, I can't remember the artist who made it so I can't give credit where credit is due.

My favorite, longest played, and not surprisingly the first character I took to high levels was a brooding rogue named shadox. I described him as a nondescript 6 ft tall black shirt, black pants, black boots, black gloves, black hair and ashen skin. He was under cover along with a fighter as an acrobat, tight rope walker, and general performer in a circus. During the "Amazing Marvin" Axe throwing act there was an accident. The fighter fumbled. A permanent scare was on his face as if the axe had tried to split his eye. This was the closest picture I could find.

I work for Games Workshop and look peculiar. In the store I am the manager of most cutomers just call me the Dwarf. Even my wife calls me that sometimes. I wonder why...

Uh, my usual avatar is of an old wizard, not because I am old or a wizard, but more because of the spell he is casting makes me think of being a DM, holding the fates of the players in your hands.

My current avatar is Kraken kickstarter goodness.

My avatar captures which first full-color D&D image that really fired up my passion for D&D.

GREAT QUESTION....MY AVATAR IS FROM A SCULPTURE THAT I DID IN COLLABORATION WITH BORIS VALLEJO. MY FIRST JOB OUT OF COLLEGE WAS AS A STAFF SCULPTOR AT THE FRANKLIN MINT. THE TIMING WORKED OUT PERFECTLY....TFM WAS LOOKING TO START A NEW FANTASY LINE WITH BORIS VALLEJO, JULIE BELL AND FRANK FRAZETTA AND NEEDED A FIGURATIVE SPECIALIST TRAINED IN THE CLASSICAL FIGURE TRADITION.(**STEFAN WAS ONE OF MY TEACHERS....WE WOULD LISTEN TO THE CONAN SOUNDTRACK WHILE PAINTING AND DRAWING IN CLASS...VERY COOL**)I HAD ADMIRED BORIS' WORK SINCE I WAS A KID, HIS WORK INSPIRED ME TO WORK WITH THE FIGURE AND PEAKED AN INTEREST IN THE FANTASY GENRE...ALONG WITH FRANK FRAZETTA AND MANY COMIC BOOKS FROM THE 60', 70'S AND 80'S.THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH BORIS IN PERSON WAS PRETTY MIND-BLOWING....WE BECAME GOOD FRIENDS AND I EVENTUALLY SCULPTED HIS PORTRAIT- I ALSO HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO HANG OUT WITH HIM AND HIS BEAUTIFUL AND TALENTED WIFE (JULIE BELL) IN THEIR STUDIO. WATCHING BORIS DRAW AND PAINT IN PERSON IS SOMETHING I WILL NEVER FORGET...SUCH A NATURAL TALENT....A PRODIGY. THAT'S MY STORY.....
