Passing of a Legend: Frank Frazetta 4 Years, 7 Months ago
Perhaps the greatest fantasy artist of all time, Frank Frazetta has died at the age of 82.

You'll note the subject line; I don't overuse the term "legend," but in this case I feel it's truly justified. Frazetta's influence on fantasy illustrators is profound, and will continue for decades to come.

No one captured the raw dynamism of Conan better than he, or put more smoldering sexuality into a feminine form. His work will live on long after his death.

I read about it this morning. Its always sad to see the passing of a figure like him in any artistic medium. His name will forever be mentioned when anyone discusses fantasy art.

Make something idiot-proof and someone will just turn around and make a better idiot.

Indeed, my favorite Fantasy Artist of all time. When I was 15 years his berzerking barbarians and fleshy sensual princesses inspired me to become an artist and study oil painting at my high school of Art and Design in NYC...I even went to the opening of his museum in the pocannoes(spelling)and saw some of his masterful illustrations in real life. He was a real Genius. He understood how to make an exciting and powerful illustration...along with the writings of REH the two of them paired were a force to meld the mind of many young teenagers...it was a beautiful time, from a beautiful golden age of fantasy in NYC...

I have an original sketch that I purchased some time ago and had never framed it. I took this opportunity to frame it and hang it in my office.
