Camera setup for DF photos 5 Years, 1 Month ago
Hello everyone,
I would like take better photos of my DF setups. All I have is one of the small point and shoot digital cameras. What camera setup would you recommend for both Dwarven Forge setups and general all around photography? I would think a digital SLR would be the way to go. What brand? What Lens? Lights or Flash? Can it done for under $1000?

Thanks
Thomas

Lights (natural is best), and a small tripod actually do wonders.

I take all DF photos with a crappy little $150 digital camera. Just set the field of view to the highest you can (a "whistle" icon on some cameras) and use the macro function (a "flower" icon on some cameras). This will cause the exposure to take a long time, so you need a tripod or something to rest the camera on solidly.

Found the "flower" icon on my little camera, that will help. Next I need to get me a tripod!
Thanks

You can get a pretty good small one, that is perfect for up close pictures of DF and minis at most camera stores for about $10-15, I have 4 of different sizes, but then I used to do a lot of 35mm SLR photography. It doesn't take a lot to take good photos, a lot can be over come by settings like Jeff said above, but to do it you need have a stable base, where the tripod comes in, and also, try using the timmer, as this will cut down on any shake or movement after you depress the button.
