I'm going to throw "Stardust" into the ring, for overall plotline and plenty of fun magic.

Akira Kurasawa's "The Seven Samurai" is a terrific story of a bunch of heroes recruited to fight a vastly superior force of bandits.

If you want to run a story with a bulette or an ankheg, "Tremors" might give you some good ideas.

"The Last Legion" plays kind of like a short campaign as well.

Sorry to go slightly off-topic, but which movie (might have been TV or cable) featured the thief saying, "I've never been fat; I'd like to be fat before I die!"

Find the Star Trek:Voyager episodes that had Tom Paris and Harry Kim "researching" the Captain Proton episodes on the Holodeck; they are an excellent gold mine of '30's serials material for sci-fi garbage goofies. PERFECT material! All the caverns, spark-gap electrical weirdie machinery, and Zap guns for props that anyone could want - it's the Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon serials all over again - and there's another pair of fine sources, and THEY Even used swords for a lot of action!
It's too bad no one ever did a John Carter movie (it's been optioned several times...someday, someday).

"Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" is also pretty good for that 1930s serial feel.
