Big names gone from WOTC/Hasbro? 6 Years ago
I am really looking forward to Imperial Entanglements. However, I am just wondering why WOTC doesn't release some SWM 25mm "playsets" for specific OT places. For example, a re-do of Yoda's house on Dagobah in 25mm scale, or the Han Solo torture chamber on Bespin. With removable roofs so you can use the figures inside. They released several Cantina sets for "figure scale", which were quite nice. I only wish they would do that for 25mm scale. Can you imagine an ewok village re-make for 25mm? That would be great! Each scenario play set could come with a set of SWM to match. Including stat cards of course. Currently I use the Games Workshop OOP "Orc Village" as my Ewok village. They released the Clone Wars box set at Target I think, but my point is that it would be so cool if they released some SWM hard-plastic and prepainted terrain to go with our DF stuff. Sorry, I'm just thinking of possibilities.

The actually Have in the UK, done something similar but the company that did it was contractually not allowed to do it in the US, and requests were refussed to sell products to people in the US (i know i tired to get one many many times, it was however Card Stock of the Tantive IV, also i think a Bespin one. I think for Contract and Cost reasons Plastic is a bit more expensive to produce and could run up against who has the rigths to make things in that scale. Cost wise the Current TRU Lars homestead looks COOL but expensive and big. So i really don't see it happening in Plastic, maybe Card.
While it would be cool it likely would not happen becuase that would fall out side of thier (WotC) contracts, Hasbro owns Galoob and WotC, Galoob has in the past been the only company allowed to make those type of things here in the US (in recent years). WotC might be able to swing a Cardstock version (espically with the failure of the Galaxy tiles, a 3D build it your self set could fall under that type of product and be a repalcement for it, and cool).

But which type of thing were you refering to the Old Cardboard or the Full on Playsets.
And out there there are a few Plastic playsrts, there were Mirco playsets back in the 80's they had the Mirco Collection (Metal and Plastic ones) i have a bunch of Parts and figures from those i used as Minis before the WotC ones.
And Sears did a bunch of Specials like the Cantina the only place to get the "wrong" Snaggletooh ( which i have :) ).
Also the Full on Playsets in plastic ranging from the Death Star (there was also a Carboard Sphere one by a british company who's name escapes me Play*something*), to the Ewok village, to Yoda's House to, Vaders chamber etc etc.
Then oh 10 years or so ago the Fan Club also had a Jabba's and Cantina set but the more recent ones were also Card becuase it's just cheaper.

Honestly To this day i tend to use the old Plastic Playsets for Minis. My Ewok Village is used by the minis and not the Action figures, since they shrunk the scale Soooo much on many things a good number of the times they are closer to working with the minis than the action figures. The Royal spaceship from E1 is really close for Minis scale, same with the Falcon, Slave I, Gallofree, Shuttle, etc. I use my old droid workshop playset as minis terrain, and even some of the Mini Rigs.

And while WotC or Hasbro isn't releasing anything in the mean time there are some decent Fan made Cardstock models out and about.

IF you can find it (I managed to get one at a model show), AMT/Ertl issued a SW/RotJ Jabba's Throne Room model that seems to fit the WotC mini's pretty closely. I think they also issued a Hoth Hangar Deck model as well, but I'm not sure about that one. And Fine Molds makes 1/72nd and 1/48th scale X, Y, and TIE fighters, so if you're willing to pay the price...

Just a thought.

Layoffs at WOTC is not surprising in our economy. Organizations are shedding jobs even if their financial situation is good.

While sales or R&D might be a reason to select those fired, the state of the economy and the fear by executives is the root cause....

...even though I'd like to blame it on 4th edition....

Thanks GS, but I was only suggesting that they make "new" terrain for SWM. I have thought about buying some of the old 80's playsets and re-doing them for 25mm, but there are other 25mm stuff available. Also, I had most of those old playsets, so I was hoping they would do something new, terrain-wise. Just wishing. But, we got DF, so all is good!

Thanks too Jim! I have checked alot of the 1/48th-ish scale SW stuff too. I am thinking about getting that Jabba's palace, but I am not sure, because I am always thinking about how many DF pieces I could get for that price! :)

I know they have a Jabba abd a Cantina form AMT/Ertl i grabbed those two from my FLGS some time back (on like 50% off), I used some of them for minis and terrian untill i got other options.

It would be cool, but untill the SWRPG and SWMinis market is bigger they won't do it. as it is the unleashed line died and they had some nice stuff i used, as well as the Micro Machines... It's a size we use but alot of others just thing it's to small i guess :(
