Possible "Everything Must Go" sale 5 Years, 6 Months ago
Thank you Jeff. Many months back, Jeff said that, if it came to this, he'd let me post on the DF forum to sell my DF stuff.

Looking at bankruptcy and losing the house.

Would like to know if there are any interested parties in purchasing ALL of the Dwarven Forge I own, or any of the other items listed below.

- All of the Dwarven Forge I own (possibly including the "we'll never again reprint" items I own).
I think I own roughly $5000 and would take roughly $4000 for them (although local pickup might be a must).

ANY Interested Parties may e-mail me at (all one word, no spaces...just using spaces here to stop bots)
w e a v e r j k 2 0 0 2 AT h o t m a i l DOT c o m

Okay - as I said, I'm just trying to get a rough idea of what cash I could scrounge together to knock debt down in a short period of time (say 3 months).

I seriously doubt I'll be able to get enough interest in all of the items for enough cash, but I thought I'd at least get a feel for it.

Thank you - John

Other items/collections that would be available:
--------------------------------------------------------
- All the DVDs we own
- All of the D&D I own - from way back to now. I have bunches of Dragon magazines going at least as far back as number 77. Dungeon magazines. Basically, just over two entire bookcases of D&D. Some of the items include a copy of Gary Gygax's most recent "set" of books for his nost recent line - signed at the 2007 Gen Con Indy by Gary. Oh I hate to see it all go, but it would be for a good cause if it raised enough cash along with everything else.
- My wife's two curio cabinet's full of Snow Babies. A collection probably worth well over $1500 (although she'd have to check).
- All of my D&D Miniatures. I've some really nice painted ones, but not a huge collection. Some cost me $10 painted, others $45.
- Some older computers - Pentium 3s with 1GB or 2GB of RAM - you'd have to supply the OS and software.
- A large laptop which initially cost $4k that is probably now worth perhaps $1k. Pentium 4 - I forget the GHz (either 2.66 or 3.0) with 2 GB of RAM and two 100 GB HDDs and a 17" screen. It's one of those "portable desktops."
- A brand new Dell 2900 server with about 1750 GB of storage and two 250 GB disks in a RAID-1 array (for the OS). I think it cost me around $3600 at "30% off." 8GB of RAM. (yeah, this is what I ended up bying with the $3k in purples that I sold. I was using it to study for my Windows 2008 certification exams. You supply the OS. oh yeah; it has two quad-core processors - again, I forget the tech specs on the GHz, but it's good enough! ;)

For those who are True Dungeon Fans -
-----------------------------------------------------
Include at least:
--------------------------------------------
1x horn of plenty
1x ring of wizardry
1x amulet of wonder (proof)
1x cloak of the mage
1x bracers of defense +2
1x widseth's mystical lute
1x ioun stone, lavender ellipsoid
-------------------------------------------
2x medalion of greyhawk
1x staff of striking
1x boots of sure footing
3x bracelets of zephyr
1x of each of the wooden combo tokens from 2006
1x of each of the combo tokens from 2007
----------------------------------------------------
3x alchemist pouch
---------------------------------------------------
and about 4000 other tokens (standard assortment of common, uncommon, rare)
these include at least 2x GOLD 2007 Sets, 2x PLAT 2007 Sets, and 1x GOLD 2008 Set

NO, Jeff, I do NOT want you to ship me the set(s) mailed to you. PLEASE, PLEASE keep them for yourself and/or the Tavern.
The TD crowd would still love to see these in the Tavern and they would do much more good there. Truly.

Thank you, Stefan.
Still running numbers to see if we can bail ourselves out.

Would you believe it - I just redid some math tonight and discovered that, because I'm a good worker and my boss gave me a $3k bonus this year, that pushes my wife and I over the "cut-off" for filing Chapter 7.

Really, I've always disliked people using bankruptcy. It seems like everyone else in society has to carry their burden as businesses raise prices to account for their losses.
Just know I wouldn't even be looking at this if things hadn't quickly and somewhat unpredictably gotten this grim.

Heh - if anyone wants a good "computer guy" who can learn about anything, please let me know.
Looking for a better job...

Take care all.

I really wish you good luck friend, here we are dealing with the raise of interests that matter to pay for the house. Every 6 months we pay more to the bank for the house, and a very little fraction of the ammount is really to pay for the real house, you know.

Hope things will soon go better for you.

weaverjk,

Please accept my wishes for a speedy resolution (and hopefully better than you expect outcome) to your situation. These are trying times for many of us and I sincerely hope things turn for the better.

In any case, if you would ever consider a move to the northeast, I would happily give your resume to a few folks who might be able to find you something. I have gaming friends at IBM, a local town IT department, and a few various tech firms in the area.

Whatever happens good luck

John -

Best of luck to you; I mean that.
And DARN IT! I'd love to help you out fiscally by taking that Dell 2900 off your hands, but what I could give you would be an insult to you AND it! I'm looking for a new server (mine keeps locking up every time I switch away from it on the KVM, running Win2K server) and I don't have a lot of cash to spend on a new one. I've even got Win2k3 SBS ready to install, but with my luck, that would be a waste of time on it!
Oh, well. Here's hoping you wind up with something faster than I could get up there to unload it from you anyway.
ONE pair of crossed fingers for you. (more than one just jinxes you! Remember that!)

Thank you all - some who knew me from previous posts, and some who do not.
Your well-wishings are appreciated.

I should have updated the DF web site when I updated the True Dungeon web site a few weeks back.
The lawyers told me that, if we may need to file bankruptcy, we cannot sell anything off at this time as it would be a "red flag."

My position was terminated with one company a few weeks later and I was able to find offers for some more money. This may mean that we can't file at all - which is both good and bad. We may be able to pay back what we owe - it may take ten years of working at it though. :)

What it boils down to, though, is that - for now - we are holding on to everything we own.

If the situation changes, I'll be sure to update the web site. (the good side - we may actuall be able to keep everything...yeah! and, in honesty, I'll feel better about paying what I owe, even though having such huge debt "wiped clean" was very tempting)

Thank you,

John

Best of luck and may the Gods of Good of the D&D world bring you some measure of good fortune!

Perhaps, though, they have already begun to do so and this is the first inkling of it....?

John;

I was kinda hoping my co-DM would roll a natural for you; that guy can pick up anyone's d20 and roll consistent 19's and 20's - put them down, the owner can pick 'em up and roll 1's and 2's! Joe picks 'em back up and rolls more 20's!!
He keeps threatening to go to Vegas...

All the best from here and hope it moves on to the best. Just drop a line here if it turns bad again. I missed the earlier message when it unfolded.

Not sure about the legal implications - as the lawyer said selling anything is a no go. But I have seen something similar happen some 15 years ago. A gaming friend went into bankrupcy with his small company. We had been a gamer community around a small magazie where he was the editor. At that time (this was pre-eBay) we organized some internal auction in the gaming community and while it was sad that he had to auction of his whole game collection - he at least got a lot more as he would have got otherwise.
Some people even bit above new price to show their support.

Again - I hope you avoided this scenario - but in case it turns to the worst again - I've seen how this was done in the past and how valuable a gaming community can be.
