Dream Vacation... 6 Years, 3 Months ago
I'm going to be gone for 10 days of escape...pretty crazy vacation, actually. I guess you could say that I'm obsessed with the mega-thrill-rides. To sum it all up, it's 10 days, 6 flights and THE 7 best thrill parks on the planet!

Here's the itinerary folks. read-em-and-weep:
Thurs, May 22 -- Travel day -- Fly from Phoenix, AZ to Newark, NJ with rental car to Jackson, NJ
Fri, May 23 -- First at the gate for all day affair at Six Flags, Great Adventure!
Sat, May 24 -- Travel day -- Fly from Newark, NJ to Charlotte, NC and then to Richmond, VA with rental car to Doswell, VA
Sun, May 25 -- First at the gate for allday affair at Kings Dominion!
Mon, May 26 -- Early rental car to Williamsburg, VA and first ones at the gate for all day affair at Busch Gardens, Europe!
Tues, May 27 -- Early travel day flying from Richmond, VA to Orlando, FL. First at the gate for all day affair at Universal Studios!
Wed, May 28 -- Staying at the Hard Rock Hotel, Orlando and first at the gate for all day affair at Islands Of Adventure!
Thurs, May 29 -- Early rental car to Tampa, FL and first at the gate for all day affair at Busch Gardens Africa!
Fri, May 30 -- Travel Day -- Flying from Orlando, FL to Cleveland, OH with rental car to Sandusky, OH staying at the famous Hotel Breakers.
Sat, Mat 31 -- First at the gate for all day affair at Cedar Point!
Sun, Jun 1 -- Travel home -- Fly from Cleveland, OH to Phoenix, AZ and somehow try to rest for work the next day.

I don't think it will be a world record or anything, but it is MY dream vacation so it will be a blast. If any of you are planning a trip to any of these parks during this time, just shout out "Hey Ghostmage" if you see 4 guys in the front of the line at the gate!

~Cheers

Heya Ghostmage,

Sorry if we already talked about this, but I'm in Phx too! Have a great trip. I was born in Ohio, Columbus, though. Sounds like an awesome trip, take lots of pictures.

Anyhow, my vacation consists of working at one of the local Boy Scout camps near Payson from May 24th to July 28th or so.

Cheers!

Guys I grew up in the ohio valley and went to places like geauga lake, sea world, king's island, cedar point and Kennywood park in pittsburgh. I know this is late but if you ever get a chance the steel phantom in pittsburgh or how locals refer to the burg is a great coaster at kennywood. Have fun.

Yeah, I'm back from vacation...holy crap, what a blast! All in all, I probably rode 250 rides -- crazy stuff!

For anyone interested, I took on a ton of world record breaking rides on this trip and the best of show were...

Most thrilling Steel coaster -- The "King-da Ka" at Six flags Great Adventure. This monster is the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world! That's 456 ft straight up and 128 mph...what a rush. I rode it 6 times!

Best Woodie -- oddly enough, it was located at the same park..."El Toro" at Six flags Great Adventure. This wooden beast is the best woodie that I have EVER ridden...and I've about done them all. It features some amazing drops with several seconds of "float-time" from the back seats. It has a world record for woodies with it's first drop just under 200 ft at an amazing 76 degree angle. The ride is relentless, with an amazing pace throughout; ending with a double figure 8 layout as a finale...it's a must ride!

It will take some time to get my pictures developed, but here is a cool aerial shot of this sucker --

Yeah, that ride IS insane!

Scariest thrill-ride I have ever been on. Let me tell you -- when you are "blasted off" from the station and you are sitting in the front row seat, when your train reaches the top apex (which happens pretty quickly *laughs*), I swear to you that time actually slows down...and then you see GOD!

I rode it 5 times during the day...and then I rode it once at night with the lights out.

...words really cannot describe, so I won't even try. Let's just say that it's a must-ride for any roller-coaster fan.

Sorry, guys; I STILL say the BEST coaster ride I ever took was Space Mountain, Disney World, FL.
LAUNCH!
Orbital mission, re-entry, glide-path, landing. :)
YMMV.

Mr. Kratzer,

You, my friend, need to get out once in a while. Yes, Space Mountain is a "cute" ride, but you should try this "launch" coaster that I rode on my recent coaster-trip across the country.

This one is the only launched inverted coaster in the world. It's located at King's Dominion, VA. The launched trains travel at approximately 70 mph...oh yeah, and I forgot to mention that this 70 mph launch occurs while you are traveling Straight UP the center of an erupting Volcano! Space Mountain pales in comparison, I'm afraid.

Here's a screen shot of this one, but trust me...pictures don't do this thing justice. It's truly a one-of-kind ride!

...and here's first thing you see when you are launched out of the Volcano's darkness --

Space Mountain?? ...heh

Awesome pic, Stefan, thanks for sharing. I'm very envious of your trip to Japan! ...and you got the girl too! ...lucky dog.

As a roller-coaster fan, I would love to make the trip out there. There is one world-record breaker in particular out there that all of us drool over. It's called the Steel Dragon and it's in Kuwana, Japan. It currently is the longest coaster (both steel or woodie) on the planet...lol, it's nearly 2 miles long!

If you are ever out there again, you HAVE to ride this beast and post a full review for me! Here's a few pictures of this behemoth--

Thanks again for sharing your pic!
