It is our Wallace family clan badge. What you can't read at this low res is the motto, "Pro Liberate'".

It was kind of funny. My girlfriend of the time, now my wife, and I went to see Braveheart because the billboard looked interesting. Me being a Scot and her being Irish. Well, the movie started and upon seeing William Wallace, I told her, "Hey, that's my ancestor!" Prior to the movie whenever I would tell anyone I was related to some old scottish patriot that got himself hung, drawn and quartered no one had ever heard of him nor wished to. I have to than Randall Wallace for making our ancestor famous - again!

That is Humorous... I Have to Say that I Had "Heard" a Version of the Story before the Film Came out, Could Never remember the name of "That Scottish Dude that Pissed off the The English and Got Himself Quartered"... Interestingly it was Robert the "Bruce" that Sounded Familiar to Me The First Time I Saw the Flick I was Like "Hey I Heard of that Guy"... But the Story was a Little Different then whatever Questionable History I was recalling... And Right up until the Cheesey "FREEDOM!!!!" Death Rattle at the End, I Really Loved the Movie... (Though I am not Clear on How Historical it was)...

Not quite so cheesy considering William Wallace. What you can't read on my avatar is the family motto, "Pro Liberate", which means for liberty or FREEDOM!
It is historical in a hollywood sense, meaning it keeps with the spirit of William. If you think he was out there in the movie, he was worse in real life. At 6'7" he would pick fights with groups of English guards. They only caught him once when they outnumbered him 30-1. How is this for history: He was bethrowed to a maid named Marian, ran around with his band of men in the woods with a man called Edward Little, his little brother John and a friar that was know to imbibe to excess that was an excellent swordsman. AND - he was the best archer in all of the Isles. Remind you of anyone?

Interesting Because the "Real" Maid Marion Is Allegedly Buried Just outside of Whatever that Infamous English Burial Ground for Royalty is (West Minster?), and I remember Seeing a "Special" on the History Channel a Few Years Back That was Showing the Ruins of the site where Robin and John were Shot to Pieces by the Crowns Arrows... There was Even some sort of Monument to the Event... But History is Written by "The Winners" So Who Knows...
