My wife and my niece Jasmine just saw the new double feature from Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, The Grindhouse. We had a blast!

Do go see it. We're buying it as soon as it's available on DVD.

The cheese factor is HIGH.

Saw it earlier tonight with some friends. What a movie! I slightly preferred the Tarantino half, just because it was an actual MOVIE instead of just a long sort of knowing wink, but both are definitely enjoyable. And for people who are really into this kinda thing, it may be just about the perfect movie.

I got a kick out of the faux trailers. My favorite is "Werewolf Women of the SS," directed by Rob Zombie.

The trailers were some of the best stuff, I thought. Certainly I loved "Machete," with "They [expletive deleted] with the wrong Mexican!"

I told my (mexican) wife that her brothers would really love that, and they would.

Yeah, Machete was a good one. You've got to love Cheech Marin as a killer Catholic priest. "God has mercy. I don't." <BLAM!!!>

My wife loved the little tie-ins to some of Tarantino's other pics, like the sheriff from Kill Bill Vol. 1,and the reference to the Big Kahuna Burger.

I liked Jungle Julia dropping the reference to Zatoichi. That's Tarantino showing his love of the Japanese samurai drama.

I'm going to have to rent Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry and Vanishing Point, along with the original Gone in Sixty Seconds. Tarantino just reminds us how much we enjoyed those actions flicks from the Seventies.

"Machete" was the best, "Don't" was just "Why"!?

GREAT movies!!!

But Thanksgiving will never be the same.

BTW, if you haven't seen it yet (and you remain after the first feature), DON"T leave during the intermission.

My bro did, and it was his loss!

BTW, I totally agree with Kradlo, as I will also be grabbing the DVD (special edition, hopefully) upon release.

Such a shame it bombed so badly. Though I'm not sure why so many people are surprised. Granted, I thought it could do $20m, even though I never thought it would approach 300 (the movie, not the gross). Still, people seem to think it's a matter of intelligence or appreciation of irony, when really it strikes me as just a matter of personal preference. Some people just don't have an interest in this particular genre of movie -- not because they don't "get it" but because showing something outrageously violent and cheap and saying "But it's a joke!" won't make them like it any more.

L -

I like Tarantino (Kill Bill Forever - and it should take so long!) and I thought Spy Kids 1-3 were some of the BEST Kid-dult flicks EVER.
BUT, I just couldn't get interested in seeing Grindhouse. I hope it does well in DVD release, because I DO want those two guys to continue making movies!
Just not like these two.

Tastes differ, Jim, which is why they make ice cream in so many flavors. My wife and I are buying Grindhouse as soon as it comes out on DVD. We may go see it again in the theaters first.

Kurt Russell must have had a ball playing Stuntman Mike.
