In an effort to give the little guys a fair shake, I'm actually playing a gnome in a friend's D&D campaign. We've had three sessions so far, and I've now made it to second level as a bard.

Jebeddo Brightwhistle isn't a heavy hitter in combat, but so far he's not done too badly. Okay, he did manage to hit the kobold warrior three times in succession for a single point of damage (D'oh!), using a Small longsword (sounds like an oxymoron, doesn't it?). The kobold eventually succumbed to his wounds - okay, it succumbed to the human fighter's spiked chain, but Jebeddo softened the thing up first.

His bardic music has been a nice boost to the rest of the party. Our group consists of Jebeddo, a Half-Elf cleric of Corellon Larethian, and a Human fighter (who plans to take ranks in Sorcerer later on).

Jebeddo's Flaw and Traits have been a great deal of fun to roleplay. He's Absent-Minded (Trait), Quick (Trait), and has a Short Attention Span (Flaw). He winds up with a -2 modifier on Spot checks (Wisdom 8) and +0 on Listen checks (thank you, racial bonus!). As such, he's usually checking out the neat rock formations around him rather than noticing the creeping beastie that's sneaking up on him.

But, with ranks in all the Knowledge skills (except Architecture & Engineering - he'll pick that up later), Jebeddo can usually assess the foe once he spots it, and give some useful information to his fellow adventurers. Jebeddo must have done his master's thesis on the ecology of the grimlock.

We'll see how things go. Next game won't be until December 5th, so the game is on hold until then.

Kradlo, please take a couple of pics of your gnome's next adventure. I would love to see it. Are you using DF with your game? Thanx.

Krad;

Are you sure that shouldn't be The Roaming Gnome? After all, he IS traveling, right?
So WHAT of those latecomer losers who advertise on TV complain? They don't even EXIST for hundreds of years, right? Jebeddo was around LONG before TV OR computers, right?

Wasn't he?

Right?

Oh ,well.

See ya! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm just a player in this particular campaign, and the GM doesn't have Master Maze. Too bad, because our first adventure went into the Black Chasm Mine, and the Cavernous Passages set would have been perfect. Toss in some HO scale rails for the mine carts, and we'd have been set.

I just finished painting Jebeddo's pack mule. I'll take some pics and post them tonight. I did an illustration of Jebeddo, and am coloring in a copy. I want to try to sculpt a mini to match, but while I've done a good deal of conversion work with green stuff, I've never done a full sculpt before. My first armature was too big (he's have been about 5 feet tall), so I'll have to make another.

As far as adventuring bands, we're a pretty silly bunch, so there's no telling where we'll end up.

The Black Chasm Mine is near Cryllor, in Keoland near the border with Yeomanry (World of Greyhawk). This area had been hit by giants from the Jotun Mountains (Anyone remember the old G1-G3 series, Against the Giants?). A lot of people had to abandon their normal lives and take up other work. Many of the miners were formerly sheep herders, and now that the giants have withdrawn (or so the rumors would have it), many of them are returning to their pastures and their flocks.

Cryllor has three major power brokers, the richest of which is Mister Belcaro, our employer (whom we've yet to meet in person). Mister Belcaro owns a number of mines, one of which is the Black Chasm Mine (an iron mine). The mine had suffered a number of unexplained accidents, and they were concerned it might be haunted. We were sent in to find out what was the problem.

Jebeddo wrote a song about the place, for which he got an extra 50 XP.

Black Chasm Blues
By Jebeddo Brightwhistle

Mister Belcaro
Had a wheelbarrow
With a wheel that groaned as it rolled

His men took a shovel
From inside a hovel
And filled the cart up with gold

You'll work for some time
In the Black Chasm mine
Bringing ore from out the land

You'll dig for a while or
They'll find you in Cryllor
With nary a copper in hand

The miners would sleep
While dreaming of sheep
With wool so fleecy and white

In all of their lives
They'd not taken wives
For the ewes they cuddled all night

So take up your pick
And turn up the wick
On the lamp as you go down the line

Your fortune awaits
In filling up crates
With ore from the Black Chasm mine!

Kradlo,

That is excellent!! I take back 99.44% of all the bad things I've said about you, and at least 75% of all the bad ones concerning Jebeddo!

I LIKE IT!!!!!

Next question: WHAT TUNE??? It ALMOST fits Home On The Range, but not quite; it's lacking the refrain.

See ya,

Jim
