done been and voted. even went about the rest of my business today with the little sticker on my shirt that says "i voted" lots of people out there need a reminder, after all.
By time I was able to vote at 13:30, they were out of stickers in my precinct.
Elections here this year may set a voter turn-out record for the state.
Lots of nasty fighting between folks this year.

Governor's races are always so much fun when there are two challengers with one playing clean, keeping to the issues and how both candidates have approached them in the past meanwhile the other person has to scrape up mud and fling it to look as good as the other.
With no incumbant, it is getting far too interesting.

My in-laws said they were tired of all of the political ads three weeks ago.
They should try on my mocs.
I work in multiple states and have had to endure not just one set like they have, but four sets in the last three months.
UGH!!

Oh well, I am not expecting to see a lot of political change out there around the country folks.
Too often the new guy is just making promises he will not be able to fulfill once elected; some of the electorate is finally learning that.
On the other hand, change two years from now is far more likely despite there not neing much of a chance at real change.
At least the pay and benefit increases for servicepersons, which should have been passed during the Clinton Administration, finally got taken care of during the Bush Administration.

Vote, if you like the situation, to keep it the way you like.
Especially go out and vote if you do not like the situation.
As they say in Dinotopia, "One rain drop raises the sea."

There was one report today of a poll worker in Kentucky who allegedly choked a voter (saw coverage on CNN television and on cnn.com to confirm).

Nope;

WEASELS!

Most politicians, of ALL parties and affiliations, are rather untrustworthy. Not because they are inherently evil, but because by the time they've raised enough money to campaign effectively, they owe so many people - some good, some bad - that the poor politician can't DO ANYTHING he or she originally promised us little guys to do!

Is why we need campaign financing reform in this country so BADLY! Take ALL the campaign financing out of taxes, give all certified candidates air time and print time for their HONEST ads, make it MANDATORY for all candidates to submit to an honest debate ON THE ISSUES, then let us vote.

AND, ALL primaries are the same day; Mid-May. That gives the party conventions time to get their act together and figure out their platforms, caucus with all the candidates to decide a united front and united party, and let's them present their plans in a rational, cohesive manner. AnD kills all the 'negative' campaign ads!

But, that's just MY two cents worth.

See ya!

And how about we limit the number of hours any one candidate (and party) can have on television and radio? Even without debating the content of the ads, the sheer volume of them is off-putting.

I've often said that I think that in the event that no candidate gets a clear majority of the vote, the two leading candidates should settle the issue with a pirate death duel, with Bowie knives and a six-foot length of rope held in their teeth.

We may not get the best elected officials that way, but at least it would be fun to watch. And if we were really lucky, we might get a double elimination.

;)
