I know this sounds a bit corny, but I've moved from California to Michigan in March of this year, and this is our first snow as Michiganders (my wife prefers "Michiganians"). It's a dusting of about an inch, and it's gorgeous.

I'm going to take pictures and post them here. :D

Isn't it great that here in the Midwest we can consider an inch of snow a "dusting"?

Ugh. Is April here yet?

I like "Michiguese".

Enjoy the snow, and remember the grocery store mantra: "Milk, bread, toilet paper."

Wait a minute... speaking as a native MICHIGANDER, the correct term is indeed "Michigander", not Michiganian. ;-}~

I've never heard of Michiguese but I guess that what we spoke. One of the funniest Michigan things I remember was the phrase "You's guys".

Now if you're referring to the folks that live up Nort' in the Upper Penninsula, you call 'em U'ppers (pronounced: You-pers). Dey' tend to talk a lot like dis up der, ay?

We had a very short, very light snow shower here in Madison, WI last night. More on the way this week. What happened to fall?!?

"You's guys", like the Southern "y'all", is the second-person plural form that language teachers claim is "absent" from "proper English". I called my Latin teacher on that in college.

Wow, did I ever fail Latin!

Illinois has a similar issue. I tend to think of the people here as Illiniosances, but that's just me. :)

Michiganese as in those wonderful folk who inhabit a portion of the Iberian peninsula, the Portuguese;

Illinuisances because they frequently are (sorry, Jeff and Lori; I had to get in ONE shot!);

And, the correct mantra, jackattack, is "Milk, Bread, Toilet paper, BEER!"

See ya!

PS. Don't talk about snow -- we get 45+ inches here at our house in Western Mass every winter. I'm enjoying the fall. I'm really, really not looking forward to snow again.

Call me a nutbar if you want...but I LIKE winter, providing it's an average one (3 months).

Wouldn't want it any other way.

Northern Rockies = 4.5-6 months of winter.
Folks in the region scream "DROUGHT!" if winter is only four months long even if it snows and rains for most of that time.
My wife is from the region so she understands the folks; I do not.

Me on the other hand, with California claimed as home, understand drought.
1977-1978 - only water coming into the Southern California area was from the Pacific Ocean, ancient snowpack in the Sierra Nevadas or the Colorado River Aqueduct.
No precipt - that is drought.
